Camilo POV
"Why should we stop?", I pout. "It's a pleasure to dance with you", I explain while she stands on the ceiling and is looking at the sky. I approach her from behind and lay my head down on her left shoulder.
"I'm not a good dancer", she whispers and closes her eyes. "Oh please!", I swing her around into my arms and admit: "As if I'm any better. I'll show you the best way to dance."Curious she looks at me and once more I get us in position with her hands on my shoulders and mine on her waist. I move us around carefully without doing any steps and far away we hear the slow music playing.
My heart beats faster and as she looks at me, her beautiful e/c eyes and h/c hair shine in the moonlight. Shit, she's so pretty!
She understands the simple movement and lays her head down on my chest. I'm pretty sure she can hear every heartbeat of mine right now. But I don't mind, as long as she stays right here in the moment with me.Wait... am I... falling in love? No no no, I mean... yes she's gorgeous, but I've never been in love! That doesn't fit me. Love was always too complex for me.
Completely lost in my thoughts, I put my head on hers and pull her closer. Y/N moves her hand to my neck and starts to curl my hair around her fingers. With closed eyes I smirk and enjoy every second up here.Several minutes pass, when suddenly a wave of cold wind catches us. Y/N frowns in her one-layered dress and trembles briefly. I immediately step back and take off my poncho to put it on her.
With a grin she notices: "Camilo Madrigal, is it possible you have a romantic side on yours?"
I chuckle and ask her to sit down on the roof with me. "Well, mi hermosa, I don't want to show off... but I'm a very romantic lover!" I wiggle my eyebrows and she laughs out loud. "Not what I expected from the famous bachelor in town", she says and I become sensitive. "What do people tell about me in the Encanto if it's so unexpected?"Her eyes wander over the few houses and she shrugs her shoulders: "Nothing in particular. It's just very obvious that you're not up for marriage or kids. If the stories are true. Oh and you seem to flirt with every girl in the village." She giggles and I'm a little offended. „You... you know that's not true right?", I ask a bit ashamed of what the people think about me. She looks me deadly serious in the eyes and answers: „How could I believe it's true? I didn't even know you until now. But I can't wait to get to know you better, because everyone deserves a chance. And actually...", she pauses for a dramatic second, "... right in this moment you seem to be a good guy with a big heart and a handsome face." She laughs and I'm relieved. Hearing her words makes me feel better. But... "wait a second...", I say thinking again about what she just said, "You think I have a handsome face?" Again I'm grinning and she turns slightly red. "Well...", she tries to explain with kneading hands,"... ah no importa. Yes, of course you look handsome. I mean... look at you! Even without this, by the way beautiful embroidered, poncho you seem to shine like the sun."
She laughs and turns away, embarrassed by the torrent of words that burst out of her. Now I feel my head turning red. I nod in understanding and try to say as casual as possible: "Mi madre made this for me and Mira embroidered it with chameleons. Those are my favorite animals."
She inspects the small details and smiles. It's a genuine smile. I can't help but stare at her."Gracias for the compliments by the way. May I say that you have an even prettier face with those beautiful e/c eyes? I could stare at them all night", flirting back she looks at me and laughs again. "Okay, Romeo! I think we should go back downstairs. Otherwise my brothers will freak out. I'm the oldest but not allowed to go out with someone. Gosh, I really should have raised them better!" Shaking her head while she rages about her brothers, she stands up and offers me a hand. I gladly take it and get up. For a moment we look at each other with holding hands, when like a shot something illuminates the sky in front of us.
In awe she stares at the colorful fireworks, still holding my hand. She spots it the moment I do and again, our eyes meet. My heart's racing again. This time I'll break it and kiss the back of her hand, smirking:"If you want to go, lead the way. But I wouldn't want to miss this spectacle." With a sigh she lets her head fall on my shoulder and enjoys the view. So do I, not even thinking a second about the light in the sky. A little time passes when she notices my glances. "What", she whispers, not wanting to ruin the mood. "The light is nothing compared to your belleza", I whisper back in all honesty. I squeeze her hand to show how serious I am.
She's no longer blushing but happy. Her lips form an adorable humbling smile and without warning she leans over and kisses my cheek. At this moment the grand final of the firework ends. I stare at her with my mouth open and she runs away laughing. I don't know what to do or say, so I run after her to catch up in the stairwell.
I grab her arm and turn her around to race past her. Completely out of breath we arrive at the bottom and burst out laughing. "I won!", she squeals with a hand on her breast while I have to rest my hands on my knees to keep me from falling. "No you didn't!", I try to counter."A-h-m!"
Only then I realize the dark clouds surrounding us. "Oh mierda!", I curse myself.
I see my mum rushing towards me with an expression as if she's about to kill me. "Camilo! Where have you been!? You missed like the WHOLE party for your nephew! He was asking for you several times but I couldn't find you!" My dad appears behind her and calms her down a bit. "Mi amore, the clouds. Please, I'm sure he has a good explanation", he says to my defense and caresses her shoulders. She breathes three times very deep while I am searching for a good excuse. The clouds are darkening and even at the age of 20, I'm still a bit scared of the upcoming thunderstorm. To my surprise y/n steps forward and says with a guilty conscience written all over her face:"I'm so sorry, señora Madrigal. I occupied Camilo the whole time without noticing there was a party he had to attempt."
My mom turns to her and her face softens. The clouds slowly dissolve and she asks kindly:"And who are you, mi niña?"
Y/N makes a slight curtsey and introduces herself politely. "My name is y/n Martínez, I moved with my two brothers to the Encanto when I was 14. Again, I'm really sorry, señora."My parents look at each other and with slight confusion my dad asks: "Where have you been anyways and what where you doing?"
A sheepily expression appears on my face and y/n stutters around. My mums face lightens up and she grins at us, knowing what this means. "Ay you two! Camilo, I didn't know you have una amiga! Why didn't you tell me?", she claps her hands and a rainbow is created between me and y/n. "Oh, well, not exactly..", I try to explain but my mum ignores me completely turning to her and asking way too many questions. "So where do you come from? Is your family here? Where are your parents, we need to meet them."Y/N abruptly stops stuttering and looks at the ground. She kneads her hands and mutters something about finding her brothers and heading home. "Why so suddenly?", I question but she already walks quickly in the direction back to the music and leaves me standing here with my parents, completely taken aback.
"What just happened?", my dad asks. "No idea..."
