Chapter 4: The Big Plan

3rd POV

Y/N goes inside the large house followed by her two brothers who seem to be as impressed as her. While looking around she spots a golden glowing door. It looks a lot like the glow on her fingers, when she uses her powers. Maybe they are not so different from the Madrigals, maybe they have the same type of magic? Her thoughts are interrupted by the picture of tall young man with incredibly brown eyes. A smile spreads across her face, "which has suspiciously much to do with that certain look the madrigal gave her", Cálido thinks to himself.
Letting y/n walking in front of them he whispers to Álvaro:"Hey hermano, we should keep an eye on that Madrigal, he looked a little too long at our sister." His brother agrees and mentions:"We should split up. I'll go search for him and you stay with y/n, in case he wants to dance with her or worse!" They nod to each other and Cálido hangs on to his sister, trying to keep up a conversation. Meanwhile the ceremony already begins and Dolores, who heard the whole conversation, whispers under her breath:"Oh man, those two are waaayy too overprotective."
But the next second the curtain goes up and reveals a wide-eyed Pedro in a dark red suit with a little yellow bow tie. Everybody is in awe about the boy and Dolores looks like she is bursting with pride.
She's such a proud mother but she decides, after the gift was given, to plan with her cousins a little intrigue to separate that girl from her brothers. "This party is gonna be a lot of fun", she thinks before her son arrives at the end of the stairs and she concentrates on only him and his special moment.

Downstairs y/n is looking excited at the little man until she catches the sight of a certain Madrigal who stands in the middle of the room only watching her as if the on-going ceremony from his nephew is nothing. She feels her cheeks blushing and looks away. From the other side of the room Camilo begins to smile widely and can't help but feel his heart racing again.

But he has to stay concentrated at least until Pedro receives his power. Which is quite the moment because people around him forming their mouths letting out some "ooohh" and "aaaah". The door gets brighter and brighter until... Pedro suddenly is gone! "What?! Where is my baby?", Dolores cries at the shoulder of her husband and Pepa seems to conjure a hailstorm in confusion. Félix brushes her hair and tries to calm her down as good as possible in such a situation. You could hear some of the people quietly talking and all members of the Madrigal family start to look everywhere for the youngest one.

But the quaos dissolves quickly when they all hear a loud "Mamá, I'm up here!" from the roof. It was Pedro! "How did you get up there, mi niño?", Mariano asks perplex and rubs his wife's shoulders to calm her. "I am suuuuper fast now!", he screams down and one second later he stands again in front of the door as if nothing happened. On his door an image arises slowly of Pedro being in super speed from one town to another.
The towns people give applause as Abuela Alma announces a new gift has come to the family. Instantly the party starts and everyone rushes into the unbelievable huge room with a racetrack and mountains in the background.
Dolores lets his son play with all the other children and walks up to her cousins. Mirabel, Luisa and Isa stand on the side watching her little nephew with tears in their eyes. As she approaches them, Isa is already exactly at the right topic. "We need to get Cami with that girl, I have never seen him so speechless!"
"Totally right, Isa. And I already have a plan in mind. But it contains all of us, are you in?", Dolores asks devilish. "For being a mom, you're quite cool", Mirabel teases and earns a death stare from her cousins. "Okay, okay, relax! I'm obviously in and you?" She looks at Isa and Luisa who both nod in motivation. "Alright perfect, let's go discuss somewhere else. Here are too many people", Dolores leaves with the other three girls closely followed by a curious Antonio into Mirabel's room since it's the closest and they begin to work out the plan.
Y/N is still standing downstairs talking to some of the people she knows from the market and her brother clinging onto her. She's not used to Cálido being that close so she half-whispers to him:" Cáli, could you please not step on my feet and leave me for a bit to myself? Or should I remind you of what happened this afternoon when Álvaro questioned my independence?" A threatening glance is enough to convince him and he offers to get some drinks.
She accepts it thanfully and goes back to her conversation as he leaves, only to see that everyone has let her stand alone.

Out of the blue a hand rests on her bare shoulder and she feels the warmth directly on her skin. Someone is standing behind her whispering next to her ear:"Why so alone, mi hermosa?" sending shivers down her spine. She turns around to look directly in those amazing hazelnut eyes of Camilo. "Uhm...", she begins but can't finish as Cálido returns with two drinks in his hands and a look on his face that says he would like to set something on fire. Probably Camilo's Poncho that he threw on himself.

He takes his hands of y/n's shoulder so he can turn to Cálido and the sudden cold leaves her a bit unpredicted. Her younger brother stays in front of Camilo who offers a hand to introduce himself:"I'm sorry I was up in space the moment you passed but my name is Camilo Madrigal, I am the shape shifter of the family and the uncle of Pedro, who received his gift today." Unimpressed Cálido puts the drinks down on a table and approaches Camilo. He is not much bigger so he could look that Madrigal straight in the eyes. "Listen well, Camilo. I am Cálido and if you don't leave her alone, this is gonna end very dirty", he hisses without shaking the Madrigals hand. Y/N being right next to them thinks she didn't hear right! Did her brother just threaten to hurt Camilo Madrigal because he dares talking to her?!
Camilo defensively holds up his hands and interjects:"Hey, hey sorry. I didn't know she was here with someone."
"Me neither!", Y/N spits against her brother and you could clearly see the anger seething in her. "May I have a word with you, dear brother?!", she half-screamed and drags him with furious steps into the kitchen, completely ignoring the confused Camilo now standing alone.

"Ay ay ay! Y/N that hurts!", he complains but stops immediately as he sees his sisters face. "I HOPE SO!", she breaks out,"WHAT IN ALL OUR GALAXIES did you think you're doing out there?! Threatening a Madrigal who DIDN'T DO ANYTHING? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!" Abashed he looks to the ground and doesn't know what to say. "I'm sorry...", he brings out.
"YES YOU BETTER ARE, YOUNG MAN AND YOU'RE GONNA TELL THIS TO CAMILO AS WELL!"
A slight nod confirms the rant and leaving the kitchen she adds:"We're gonna talk about this when we're home! For now I want to enjoy this party and I hope for you AND Álvaro, that you let me be for the next hours. This should be clear enough by now."

In the mean time Dolores listens to the whole conversation and turns back to her cousins. The plan is nearly ready. "But one last detail is missing...", Luisa thinks out loud. "Yes, she's right. Someone needs to take care of y/n", Isa adds.
They took 30 whole minutes to get everything the right way and Toni was listening. Now he has the perfect suggestion so he comes up from his hiding spot behind a wardrobe. "I can ask one of my friends to take her to the roof!", he shouts, leaving the young women with a short moment of fright.
Since it is anyways too late because Antonio heard the whole conversation, Dolores sighs yes and claps her hands. "Alright, everybody in position, the plan is safe!", she looks at her cousins, "Oh and Mira, Luisa? Try your best while dancing, we want to distract those two as long as possible!"
With a nod they leave the room and go their ways to different directions.
