"He's a cute one," Peggy said walking as I walked in "wait till you see his friend, I could hook you up, a double date maybe" I subjected she blushed "we go in tomorrow" I nodded and changed into a nightgown she gave me "thank you for tonight, Peggy" she smiled and went to her room.
I walked beside Peggy as she looked over the new recruits. I was wearing my modern army uniform but because we told everyone I was here to help they didn't pay attention, "doll?" I turned to see bucky "hey buck" Peggy nudged me with her elbow "I didn't know you were going to be here" he smiled, god that smile made me weak in the knees "well sarge" his jaw tightened, good to know that he was always into that "I'm here to help, now back in line, that's an order" his jaw clenched again, does he have a thing for me outranking him "yes, ma'am"
" Who's the friend I lied to get in here?" she whispered, waking up to Steve's group, "the small one." she eyed him than me " trust me, he's what you looking for, I'll prove it". I walked over to one of the trucks there was a dr and an older man talking, I reached past them packed up a grenade pulled the pin, and tossed it "grenade" I yelled everyone scattered but steve, he threw himself onto it telling everyone to get away Peggy turned to me " told you" I walked away leaving her to whatever she needs to do, I ended up by bucky and his group of friends "so this is the lady major we've heard so much about" one of them said
Bucky smiled proudly that the men treated me with respect, well most of the "women shouldn't beg to rise in ranks, your knees hurt darling?" I smiled politely "no but yours will" he took a step up, the others ready to step in if need be, but bucky stayed seated, he saw what you could do he wanted to see it again
"What was that?" he raised his hand, I quickly caught it punched him in the face breaking his nose. another one, I really gotta stop doing that, he came back for more again I caught it swiftly twisted his arm, kicked his legs out from under him and pinned him to the ground, my knee dug into his spine in between his shoulder blades "what's going on here" the others looked to the voice "general" they greeted
I got off of him and greeted him also, "she attacked me" I just smiled "did you" he looked at me "yes sir" he stood in front of the guy "well son, I'm disappointed that you let the major get the upper hand and take you down" he did that to himself "I won't hit a woman sir" he tried to defend himself "she's not a woman, she's a major" he turned and walked away. The other guy scurried off embarrassed
I felt arms wrap around me and melted into them "that was a hot doll" he whispered in my ear, the other men exchanged looks and left us alone "I ship out tonight" I turned breaking contact "already" he nodded "major" Peggy called out. I kissed his cheek and went over to her " you were right, he's just what we need" I nodded.
The next thing I know I'm standing beside Howard and steve is getting ready to enter the machine "will this work?" she asked him "it will work" I reassured her "how do you know" stark asked me "I saw the equation, it will work" I lied they both nodded, steve went into the machine and start started it, he was screaming, and Peggy was yelling to stop I healed her back "keep going, he can do this" I told Howard
We all stepped onto the platform and steve stepped out "it worked, I didn't think it would have, it worked" I said in disbelief " what! you said it would, what do you mean you didn't think it would" Peggy slapped my arm "oww" I looked at her a little offended "how do you feel steve," I asked him, Peggy's hand shot up and touched his peck, she looked around to see if anyone saw her eyes landed on mine and I winked

"I can't believe you went without me, Peggy" I yelled at her pacing in front of the tent "he would have killed me if you went and something happened to you, hell they both would have" she was calm "I should be there, I should be helping get him back" clapping caught our attention I turned to see Steve walking in with the 107th I ran past him and wrapped my arms around bucky's neck "I'm back doll, I'm ok" I nodded into the crook of his neck, breaking the hug I looked into his eyes, my thumb brushed over the marks on his cheeks, knowing what it was from. I couldn't help it. I pulled him down into a kiss and kissed him back.
I led him to the tent I and Peggy shared. I knew she would give us time alone. I led him to the bench and got out the first aid kit and started cleaning his face. "doll" buck reached up and wiped a tear from my cheek "I thought I lost you" my voice was a whisper. He pulled me onto his lap so I was straddling him "I'm here, I'm not going anywhere I promise" he put his forehead on mine. I kissed him again, it was a soft peck but he leaned in for more. Let's just say it got heated "careful doll, I don't want them to hear you, you sweet noises are for my ears only" I nodded.
**time skip**
Note to self, a military cot is the worst place to have sex, my head was on his bare chest he ran his fingers softly down my arm "major" Peggy called out " ill be out in a second, I got up but limped a little, I could see the smile on his face without even looking and put my clothes on "doll" bucky grabbed me from falling "was I too hard on you?" he asked concerned "no buck, you were perfect for my first" I kissed him and left to find Peggy.
Her eyes went straight to my neck, "major, you do realize you broke some rules'' the general spoke, ok so I guess everyone knew what we did "your point?" I said to him he just let out a loud sigh and handed me a file "you will lead some troops on a scouting mission" I read it over and left to find buck, he was sitting by a fire with his friends
I sat next to him and his arm went right to my hip pulling me close "hey doll" he kissed my temple "I have to leave" his grip tightened. "When" he placed his forehead on my head "in an hour" I put my head on his chest, the others looked at us sadly, in the short time I've been here it seems like everyone's taken a liking to me. I just hope I didn't fuck up mine and bucky's relationship when I go back I know it was selfish of me.
"y/n" Peggy gave me a sore apologetic smile "time to go" I nodded and got up bucky walked me to the edge of camp "I'll give you a minute" Peggy left us be to make sure the others have everything "how did you get it, the scar" the one on my arm and face, the one I got after using the stones to save the earth "I sacrifice myself to save my team" he cupped my face "when this is over, when we go back to Brooklyn I'm going to make you Mrs. Barnes, we are going to have a big family and they are going to love to visit their uncle steve and aunt Peggy" he kissed me like this was the last time we were going to see each other "deal" I whispered I shot him one last look before climbing onto the truck.
*two days later*
y/ns team walked into camp beat up Peggy ran over to them," where is she" she panicked "we were ambushed, she sacrificed herself so we could get out, we went back but this is all we could find" he held out a burned piece of fabric, it was her name tag, tears left Peggy's eyes.
She took a moment to compose herself before walking into the tent bucky was in "I need to talk to sergeant Barnes" they all tensed they could tell by her voice it wasn't good, they left but bucky pulled steve back down he didn't want to hear it alone "it was a setup, they were ambushed, outnumbered" tears fell from all of their eyes "she sacrificed herself so they could come back" she continued " this is all they found" she handed bucky y/n's name tag and left the tent.
Bucky healed on to it for dear life, the woman he loved was gone and this was all he had of her "she was it steve, she was the one" he whimpered out. Steve put a hand on his shoulder, he was hurting too but bucky needed him he would cry later "I was going to make her Mrs. Barnes when the war was over" he choked out "they took my doll steve" he was angrier now
