That evening, I sat in my room, reflecting the unfortunate events of that day.
I threw myself backwards onto my bed. I stared at the ceiling. I'd totally just ruined my chances with Jack, by something I did in the past. I thought about the effects it might make. So obviously, there's the damn broken heart. Then my eyes flew wide open with the terrible thought.
What if it affects the mission? If Jack and I aren't able to work together, we'd fail the mission! And this is the best chance I'd ever received. I could even lose my job.
I pressed the heels of my hands into my eye sockets. This is just my luck. Before, I hate him, so I do something that'd ruin him. Then, the dipshit had to go being nice and cooperative and - I 'm not gonna lie - attractive, so I forgot. Then, when a big moment comes, I ruin it. With something I did months ago!
I rolled over onto my stomach. I saw something on my bathroom counter glinting in the sun streaming through the window. I sat up a bit so I could identify it. My razor. I glanced
I sat on my bed for several minutes staring at it. Balancing the decision in my mind. "No," I mumble, laying back down."Thats not me anymore."
I spent minutes alone to my own thoughts and restlessness before getting up and walking to the living room.
Chelsea was watching TV, and I passed her. She looked up."Hey Cole..."She started. But I was already out the window.
I took the stairs two at a time, all the way up to the roof. Once I was up there, I sprinted. I jumped over the gaps between roofs, only to land once more and speed across that one.
I did this until my legs ached and my lungs burned. I slowly sat down, looping my arms around my knees. As I caught my breath, I took in the view around me.
I was at least four stories up, so I could see far. Well, where the skyscrapers weren't standing in the way. The sun was maybe an hour and a half away from setting. Dark shadows loomed far from their original object. The noise of traffic rose up from the streets below: cars honking, screaming music, and tires screeching on the asphalt.
I brought myself to remember what it was like months ago. Everything was simple, there were no difficult decisions or broken hearts. My life was easy. Receive a mission, and complete it flawlessly. Honestly, I was a slightly different person. I was more ruthless, and more of a lone wolf. I was just an agent in the field. And quite a great one too.
I needed to get back to that person. Focus on my work, not on my social life. Especially with this mission looming above me, the biggest event I've been assigned in my entire career.
I squeezed my eyes shut. My mind was recalled to the embarrassing memories that were filled with guilt. I had to forget them, without actually forgetting.
I opened my eyes. Nothing else matters, except this mission.
I stood up. Off into the distance I could catch a glimpse of the G.O.E.S. building. I began to make my decent.

I opened the door to Cody's office. There he was, typing away on his computer as usual. I saw his eyes shift to my reflection in a window. He spun around."Hey Cole,"He said, his eyebrow raised."Please tell me you're not coming to get revenge."I gave a weak smile and I shook my head."No, no, I...remembered some things."I said, leaning against his desk."And, um, sorry for earlier. I was mad and upset and really confused-"
"Hey, it's fine. I'm just surprised you found a guy you actually like. Who thought that'd ever happen?"He joked.
I grinned and shook my head, looking down at my feet. I then walked to his side of the desk."So...details. I've remembered a few more things about that night."
