Clark: to be honest I was expecting the story to be longer and a little more......well exciting.

The story Clark just heard was interesting to say the least. But it's not like it was earth shattering. It did help answer some of his questions though.

Themis: while the story doesn't have the same kind of excitement most other Greek stories have and yes I probably could of summed it up in a few words, I thought the whole story would be the best way to explain everything.

Clark: I completely agree.

Themis: oh you do do you?

Clark: I mean there are still stuff I don't get and the story may not have been what I expected but it did help answer some of my questions.

Themis: then tell me hero, will you be my champion?

Clark: no.

Themis then with a smile on her face turned and began walking to the edge of the building. She truly believed she was victorious in her search.

Themis: good, now first things first you..........

Before Themis could finish what she was going to say Clark's answer fully sunk in. The Goddess then quickly whipped around to face Clark again.

Themis: could you tell me your answer one more time, I think I might have miss heard you.

Clark: I said I won't be your champion.

Themis just looked at Clark for a second before........

Themis: WHAT!!!!

Clark: I'm sorry if my decision made you mad but I just can't be your champion.

Clark really did feel bad about having to turn the Goddess down. She spent so long waiting for him to actually come to earth and she had done nothing but praise him during there whole conversation. But it just wouldn't be a smart move on his part to except. So Clark had to turn down Themis offer. The Goddess herself was confused as to why though. What mortal would even think about turning down an offer like this.

Themis: why though? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, why would you turn it down?

Clark: because I can't be under someone else's control. If I took orders from someone then it would be that person who decided what was an important use of my powers. That means someone else would decide what was right or wrong and it would be based on what they believe. I won't claim to know what the right decision is that I should be making all the time but even so I feel like the best person to make a decision of right or wrong when it comes to using my powers is me. That's why I won't be your champion. I'm sorry.

Themis didn't say anything and instead just looked at Clark. The Goddess just starred at probably the only mortal in existence who would dare to refuse a Gods offer. With that thought Themis decided to ask more questions. While most of Olympus would probably try to strike Clark down for refusing them, Themis couldn't help but to grow even more curious by the mortal.

Themis: you do know that I am the Goddess of justice don't you? I am supposed to make the right decision, the just decision.

Clark: yes but the just decision isn't always the right one.

It was clear to Themis that she wasn't going to be able to get Clark to change his mind. The worst part about it for the Goddess though was that she could understand where Clark was coming from. To put it simply Clark doesn't want his powers used for evil and the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is to remain in control.

Themis: (sigh) I must admit that the outcome of this conversation is not the one I wanted or the one I expected. But I do truly understand where I are coming from.

Clark: if it makes you feel any better I still plan to continue fighting for truth, justice, and other stuff like that.

Themis: it actually does. You may not be my champion but you would still be fighting in my name.

Clark: it's nice to hear that you understand. I was afraid you would act like how to Gods and Goddess in the stories I've read would act and try to kill me for saying no to you. It's nice to know that you're not upset.

Themis: while I can't speak for other Gods and Goddesses, I do understand your reasoning and see it as a just one. So while I still am upset that you would not except my offer I can not get mad at you for it.

Clark: thank you for understanding.

Themis: that doesn't mean I'm going to be lenient on you though.

Clark: what?

Themis: not only is your body strong but I can see that you have a strong sense of justice and a need to protect. I'll make sure you never lose that about you.

Themis then gives Clark a friendly smile. Seeing this Clark gives the Goddess one of his own.

Clark: like having a guardian angel.

Themis: something like that.

Clark and Themis couldn't help but share a little moment at that point. Clark couldn't help but think that a nice friendship might have just started. But as one friendship starts, other friendships continues to grow. Clark had been using his super-hearing the whole time he waited for his new demigod friends to return from Olympus. Now he can hear them. For some reason he couldn't hear them when they were on Olympus, most likely due to magic. He always had trouble when it came to magic but now he can hear them again.

Clark: it looks like the guys have finally came back.

Themis: yes it would appear that the council is finally done with them.

Clark: why did it take so long though?

Themis: I wouldn't be surprised if it was because the Gods used this little victory as a excuse to have a party.

Clark: you think they'd do that?

Themis: (sigh) I wouldn't put it past them.

Clark: well at any rate I should probably be getting back to them.

Themis: very well mortal. Till we meat again.

Clark: see ya later.

Themis disappeared and it was like she wasn't even there. Clark after seeing this shook his head wondering if he'd ever get used to that. Deciding not to worry about it Clark turned towards the direction of the Empire State Building and in the blink of a eye jumped towards it.
