Holiday Love Conquered

December had slowly arrived and SSA Emily Prentiss could not have been more excited. She loved this time of the year because it reminded her of just how much she loved her BAU family. she had joined the BAU ten years ago and her coming in was tough, but she had grown to love the very people standing in the room before her right now as the years went on. she will never forget her first day on the job some welcoming, some closed off, and other just cold. she entered a mad house that soon became a happy home with a loving family she'd call her own. and she'd never change it for anything. 

"princess what are you daydreaming about?" asked Rossi her very overly protective, father-like partner.

she had come to love Rossi like a father. he was what she looked up to in a dad; and since she never had hers around as a kid Rossi makes up for a lot of what she missed out on as a kid without a dad. he watches her back, and stays by her side, he protects her from everything and anyone. the bond they had formed was extraordinary. 

"nothing Rossi", Emily chuckled as she went and planted a kiss on his check.

Morgan arose from the couch and grabbed the bottle of Scotch from the kitchen counter. he began pouring everyone shots as they sat around the fireplace. 

Derek smiled as he watched Emily laughing with Penelope, Tara, and JJ. he could never get enough of her beautiful smile and that laugh of hers. 

Grabbing the bottle from his hands, Arron nudged him. "stop starring and just tell her how you feel".

"yeah man, you two have been at this for the last ten years now. there is nothing holding you back", Reid added. 

Derek shook his head. "and what exactly should I say to her? hay Em, I'm sorry I am just telling you this now but I've been madly and obsessively in love with you for the last ten years now. that is not gonna work, she is going to think I'm insane".

Spencer filled his glass and took a shot, "well yeah dumb ass. how do you think JJ and I got together? I took my head out of my ass and I finally confessed to her how I felt and surprisingly enough she felt the same way. what could it hurt Derek, Really?"

Rossi patted his shoulder and smiled. "what's the worst thing she could say, I don't love you?" 

Derek Laughed. Rossi was a fool at times but that could be the alternative to his approach. she had to have some feelings for me after all these years of us being partners he thought.

on the other side of the room the women had been discussing the same situation. Emily couldn't even think straight with the racket her friends had been making. 

"let it go girls, he may be single, but I don't even know how he feels", Emily told the girls for the sixth time that night.

JJ folded her arms, how do you expect to find out if you don't ask him? he needs to know Em".

Tara chimes in. "I'm sure he already knows, he just wants you to confirm it by telling him that he is the man for you". 

Emily took a sip of her drink and shot Penelope a pleading look. to her dismay though, Penelope gave a glare showing she was on the same ship with the other ladies. 

"okay, ok! I tell him and if it is not meant to be it just isn't meant to be", Emily told the girls.

 "hey guys, they are talking mad smack about us, it's time we show them who they're dealing with", Spencer chocked on his scotch as it went down the wrong pipe. 

the guys laughed as he tried to gain his composure back. he couldn't help himself, Spence wasn't really much of a drinker but he loved how the liquor tasted. 

"what did I tell you about the heavy liquor", said JJ to Spence. spence looked up smiling at JJ. he wrapped his arms around her waist and Planted a kiss to her cheek. "I'm sorry Jaj; it just went down the wrong rabbit hole is all. but I am fine." Spence Assured her. 

Slowly, the women began gathering around the men. they had been separated most of the night. the women had cooked and were cleaning the kitchen and they had finally pulled the guys away from the big screen long enough to toast the holidays. 

by then Morgan had decided that there was no better time then the present. he needed Emily to know that he was no longer afraid to admit his feelings to her. to his surprise, Emily had been pulling him away from the group and to the hallway of Rossi's mansion. 

"hey Morgan, can I talk to you", Emily asked as the traced the rim of her glass. 

Morgan tilted his head up towards her, "sure, is everything ok?"

Emily just smiled. that was her Morgan always looking out for her. deep down she had fallen in love with him over the last ten years, but she was just to afraid to ever admit to herself let alone him. so she just decided she could go on living loving him from afar as long as they remained partners at work she was happy.

"I'm fine Derek. I just- look Morgan we have been friends for a long time now, hell you are my best friend; don't tell Penelope I said that. And I know we haven't always had the greatest friendship, we've had our difference for sure but- "Emily was stopped midsentence as she was interrupted by Morgan's finger against her lips.

"Emily you are amazing. these last ten years of my life have been amazing because you walked into it", Derek took a deep gulp. stepping closer, he looked dead into her eyes, "you are an incredible woman Emily Prentiss and I want you to know that I love you, I am in love with you". 

Emily's face went from worried to excitement. she couldn't believe it. he had finally said it to her. all those years and nights she sat and wondered if he ever felt the same as she did.  she had her evidence now, he had told her. 

"I have loved you since the day we met. there was always something special about you, but i kept my feelings to myself because of the team and the rules at the BAU. 

Derek finally kissed Emily cupping her face in his hands. "you don't have to worry about that anymore those rules have been gone and erased for as long as I can remember now. and our team is our family they will always support us no matter what. Emily we are free". 

a burst of yells and hollers, mixed with squealing from Garcia rung out from the opening of the hallway. their friends were cheering them on as they smiled and laughed. they knew it was way over due for these special agents to get together and become one. every single one of their friends; JJ, Penelope, Ried, Rossi, Tara, Arron, Alves, Simmons, and tech analyse Lynch had been there; And they've seen the looks, the stares, the inevitable love that surged through these two agents. their friends gathered around as they hollered in unison Merry Christmas with a piece of mistletoe dangling from their hands!

Ten years had passed and Emily found her team to be the best family she ever gained of all time. yes they had all changed. JJ and Spencer were a couple, Simmons and his wife were Expecting, Alves and Penelope were headed for the aisle, Rossi is marrying his third wife for the second time, Arron And Beth are also expecting and going strong together, and the last of the bunch had finally thrown worry and caution out the window and came together. Love conquers all and it had not only conquered the BAU Holiday but it conquered Derek Morgan and Emily Prentiss.
