It was the next day and the firefam had the day off so Eddie and Buck decided it was a perfect day for them to meet up and go to the coffee shop while Christopher was at school.
Eddie had just dropped Christopher off at school and made his way back to his house. He decided to text Buck to make plans.
Bobby and Athena had already made plans to spend time with May, Harry, David, and Michael. While Hen and Karen were going to be spending time with Denny and their family, together. So Eddie and Buck decided to spend time with each other. All of them deserved the day off. It had been hard work and exhausting for the past week.
They all deserve a break. Nonetheless. It wasn't much of a break for them, but at least they got one day to themselves. They've all had plans for this day since the week before, but they didn't exactly know when it would happen. Needless to say, Buck and Eddie were really planning on this day to happen.
Eddie took out his phone to find out that Buck had texted him, but he never felt his phone vibrate. Good thing he decided to check it now, so he didn't worry his friend too much.
The texts read:
Buckley: 9:40 AM: I'm headed out to the store, need anything?
Buckley: 9:45 AM: I'll get you your beer and I'll see you later.
Buckley: 10:01 AM: Are you up? I know this is the time you usually drop Chris off at school. Are you okay, Eds? Please reply. You're making me worry.
Eddie felt bad that he hadn't texted his best friend back since 9:40 AM, the time he usually gets up and gets Chris ready for school. He texted Buck back and apologized for the inconvenience.
Eds: 10:19 AM: Sorry, Buck. I didn't mean to worry you. I had my phone on silent and had just realized, I apologize. I don't really check my phone very often anymore. But I'm awake. Are you up for going to the coffee shop around here? You never really did tell me about what you had to tell me, and I'm very curious as to what it may be that you need to tell me.
Eddie had to admit, he was really curious as to what Buck may have to tell him, whether it be bad, good, sad, he didn't care. He's always been curious. Buck always talked to Eddie whenever he felt down and about. Buck knew he could trust Eddie no matter what.
It wasn't long before he received a reply back that read:
Buckley: Oh thank the Lord, you're okay. I was worrying about you. Yes, sure why not? That would be a great time for us to catch up.
Eddie smiled after reading the message he had just recieved. He was all alone in the house and he was just sitting there in silence. The TV off, no music playing. Just silence. It was tearing Eddie apart, but in a sort of way, he liked being in the silence, him and his thoughts.
His phone dinged again and he was parted from his thoughts.
Buckley: Getting ready now, are you coming to pick me up or am I driving there?
He was fast to reply.
Eds: I'll pick you up, no need for you to drive yourself.
His phone dinged again and this time it wasn't Buck. It was Carla.
Carla: Hey! I just wanted to see if it was alright if I could meet with Chris today. If it doesn't seem to fit your schedule we could always reschedule. Looking forward to seeing both of you. Have a great day.
"Would it be a good day to talk to Carla?" Eddie thought to himself for a moment. He didn't know if he and Buck would be late getting back, but he sure hoped they wouldn't run overtime. Chris really needed Carla this past week. They have already needed to reschedule twice due to Chris being sick.
