**Unknown Pov**
"You're late." Her voice was almost a whisper as Sun walked into the cold building, it made him wonder if it would kill their boss to make the place warmer.
It's not like the sunlight can kill them.
It hasn't been able to in ages.
And it was all thanks to those mages during the dark times.
"I was caught up playing nurse Salem, would it kill you to be cuter when you hiss at someone?" He questioned the brunette in the blood red dress, who only glared at the other.
"And we're on a schedule you moron, do you really enjoy testing Nathan's patience? It won't be long before he decides to do away with you." She told the other walking down the dark hall.
Sun could only roll his eyes at that.
"Trust me Salem, if there was anyone here he would want to be rid of? It would be you. I mean," he smirked looking at her.
"Have you met you?" He asked.
Salem glared harshly with a low growl.
"What was that?" She glared.
"As much as I enjoy watching the two of you flirt, we've been waiting on your arrival for some time now, and Nathan would like to hear about the news Sun gathered."
Sun looked at the red head with hazel eyes, frowning at the two.
He smirked stepping up to the other.
"Let's just say, it made our little hunt ten times easier, but also slightly irritating." He said stepping into the room where the other vampires were present.
And in the front of the room, stood a tall man with a girl attached to his hip, she had long curly brown hair and ice blue eyes, she looked like a doll as she looked around the room.
Meanwhile the taller male who stood at her side, was frowning deeply, he had ear length blond hair and cold blue eyes.
He wore a dark shirt and jeans to match before their attention fell on Sun, Salem and Trip who walked in, interrupting the silence.
"I see you're finally back." His voice was like pins and needles loose with venom, this was Sun's boss, Nathan Kelley.
A vampire who slaughtered the innocent without thinking twice, who killed to prove a point and now that there was word an Eve was soon to be born, he wanted it on their side.
Where he would raise the eve and create it into a blood killing monster.
"I got wrapped up in talking to the pregnant omega and his family, they're quite the chatter boxes, but my apologies on being late." Sun stood in the center looking up at the two while the girl peeked around Nathan, like a child she was grinning but it was more of a devious grin as if waiting for the other to get into trouble.
"So you prioritized their own time over your bosses?" He asked him.
Sun refused to break eye contact, knowing that would be an immediate death if doing so.
"I did not want to look suspicious by leaving right after visiting with the omega sir, he was already suspicious about me enough with me just being in the same room as him. The boy is not stupid." Sun frowned now.
Nathan did the same.
"So the omega is a threat?"
"Not necessarily a threat, but he is the one who is pregnant with the eve." Sun confirmed earning shocked gasps.
He watched Nathan smirk in response to that.
"Then your job was not a waste nor was my time wasted by waiting on you, that omega is the one carrying the eve as you said, correct?" He asked.
Sun nodded looking at him.
"He seemed on edge about it, I will have to be cautious revisiting due to the fact, I brought it up before he did." He confessed.
Nathan's eye twitched.
The girl behind him looked up before she grinning.
"Uh oh, now look what you've done Sun, you've gone and pissed off Nate." She sighed reaching up and patted the others cheek.
"There there, it can't be helped that not all vampires are born with fully developed brains." She said icily but with an innocent smile on her face.
Sun tried not to flinch as the brunette looked over her shoulder at him, her eyes burning with rage now.
"And did your slip up raise red flags for that omega, or did he ignore it?" She asked taking over for Nathan who was rubbing his temples now.
Sun frowned at her.
"He ignored it but he wasn't a fan, I didn't think-"
"There it is." She smiled at him.
"You didn't think, Sun! That's the fucking problem with you morons." She left Nathan's side who frowned at her.
"Codie-"
"Honestly Nate, you're too soft when it comes to your clan, if there's no discipline-"
Sun couldn't even react fast enough before this sharp pain pounded through his head and face, he leaned over letting out a pained cry as the blood hit the wooded floor.
"How will they ever learn?" She sighed walking right up to Sun who stumbled and slipped on his own blood trying to get away from the other.
"Some just need harsher love compared to others, especially when they try to jeopardize the mission we've set ourselves on." She knelt in front of Sun who was trying not to caress his face, but he could no longer see out of his right eye.
"I'm sorry for my mistake, it won't happen again." He was trying not to panic in front of her as she studied him, before she gave him an icy smile.
"Oh, I know it won't happen again Sun, because the next time you fuck this up for us and those damn dogs get to the eve before we can? It won't be your eye I take next." She told him grabbing the collar of his shirt.
"It'll be your head that gets removed and placed in a vase, like all of the others to remind your fellow clan members, not to FUCK up!" She grabbed his face smiling at him.
"Okay?" She said patting his cheek letting go as her nails scratched the side of his face, earning a wince from the other.
Codie stood back up and looked at the remaining seven.
"Let this be a lesson for each of you who dare try to ruin mine or Nathan's plans, I've been apart of multiple clans and I've killed each and every one of them, there's only been one little vampire who I let slip through my fingers, and from what I hear? He's living happily in the town next to Crossroads. But this is not about him, this is about the omega I want brought here alive, he's no use to us dead." She said with crossed arms.
"He's due between today and tomorrow." Sun managed to get out as he tried to control his own breathing while looking up at her.
Codie blinked before turning to him.
"So the eve will be here sooner than we want?" She looked at Nathan as she smiled.
"I'm sure that pleases you even more, right?" She walked up to the other with her arms crossed.
"All we need to do from here is wiggle into that boys life, pull him and that mate of his apart and bring him and that child here." She said.
"Why would we bring the birth giver here and not just kill him?" Salem asked.
Codie looked at the other with a chilling smile.
"You want me to rip a mother away from their child? Salem dear, I may be a monster but I am not heartless. Now, I will kill the father without thinking twice because mates can be easily replaced." She said without a second thought.
Sun didn't agree with that as he stood to his feet.
A mate could never be replaced, not when they had a bond, she made it sound so easy but that wasn't true.
And as much as he wanted to call her out on it.
He was scared he would lose his life next if he corrected her.
And this was Nathan's partner.
They weren't mates, there was no romantic feelings between the two.
They just ran the same show and raised the same curtains.
Sun didn't think he wanted to admit it, but there were times it made him wonder if Nathan feared Codie at times.
She was younger than them both, but had no problem receiving power and abusing it.
Take those clans she slaughtered just because.
She could do the exact same thing to this one.
Which was why no one here could afford to screw up more than Sun nearly did.
He was lucky to walk away with just the loss of an eye.
"So we want to break the couple up to get to the mother and the eve?" Their attention fell on the male with the black hair and grass green eyes standing at the door, his coat over his shoulder as he stood there taking in the room.
"Do my eyes deceive me, or did Abel Sawyer just walk into the room?" Codie questioned with this amused grin on her face.
The alpha stuck his hands into his pockets with a smirk on his face looking at her.
"Heya, doll." He greeted the brunette who ran right up to him and without thinking, she was launching herself into his arms and her lips were on his.
"Hiya back, where have you been?" She asked him.
Abel smirked softly.
"Deceiving the innocent, using and abusing mates who are not mine." He shrugged.
Codie's grin only grew.
"I caught scent of you heading back to those dogs, I was wondering if I would have to kill you or not." She said.
Abel shook his head.
"I may be an alpha doll, but I don't side with either. I do what I need to when it comes to survival, and I can tell you right now." His eyes darkened holding her.
"Both races are down to fight your clan and the alpha's if need be, which means you'll get your blood and the eve." He told her.
Codie only grinned in response to that.
"I had a feeling we would be killing either race when it came down to that eve and the mother." She stepped back from Abel.
"But those mates you mentioned, where are they now?" She asked him.
Abel looked at her.
"Dead and forgotten in a ditch, I don't do relationships, you know that." He shrugged looking at the vampires in the room, his eyes locked on Nathan.
"Speaking of relationships," he smirked.
"I saw a certain little vampire of yours in a cafe in Cross Fade." He informed her looking at Nathan.
Codie frowned at him.
"Ziggy?"
Abel glanced to her with this amused grin.
"Uh huh, I can't tell you how many times I've had the opportunity to kill him, especially after Church fucked up." He told her.
Codie smirked.
"No offense love, but that's because Church was a dog, those races don't tend to use their brains much. Then again, apparently ours don't either." Her eyes locked on Sun who frowned deeply in response.
Abel glanced to him then to her.
"What happened?" He questioned.
Codie frowned with crossed arms.
"Well this moron nearly gave it away by telling the boy he knew about him carrying the eve for starters." She said.
"And he's still alive?" Abel smirked.
Sun frowned deeply.
"I apologized and lost my eye, what more do you want?" He asked before he was slammed into the wall, causing the dust to fall onto the floor as Abel pinned Sun there.
"For no one to ruin Codie's plans, I've been at her side since we were kids, I've watched her slaughter my race and yours to get what she wanted. You think losing an eye is enough payment? I would of taken your life, Sun, Codie wants that eve in her clan and no one here can afford to fuck that up, otherwise it will be your life next." He said.
"Since when are we allowing Abel to come in here and take over things? Nathan is our clan leader, not him." Kayce Avery had no problem calling out the issue she saw with this, her green eyes were glowing with rage as she glared in Abel's direction.
Codie turned to the red head with a smile.
"He's not taking over anything, Abel has always been my shadow, he reports better than any of you could dream of doing." She walked up to Kayce.
"I understand that, but I don't-"
"Are you questioning me, Kayce?" She asked her with a smile.
Kayce's brow knitted for a moment.
"Rather than questioning you, I'm more concerned with the fact that this childhood friend of yours, could be on no ones side and just getting the intel he needs to inform the next group. I don't trust dogs." She told her.
Codie blinked, her eyes on Abel who only shrugged in response.
She looked back at Kayce and with a smile, her hand moved fast and no one could breathe.
As they all watched Kayce's head fall to the ground.
"Questioning me, being concerned over my choices, to me? That is you doubting my motives, that you are judging how I run things here. Let me tell everyone right now, I am not your friend, your life being lost means NOTHING to me!" Codie growled now.
"If I tell you to die, you will slit your own throat or stake yourself, if I tell you to trust me when I bring a alpha into our clan, you TRUST me!" Codie yelled with her eyes pitch black.
"I can replace you faster than you think, if you question my actions. You are no longer useful to me, you are trash and I have no problem disposing you." She looked at Nathan and Abel both.
"So let's be honest right now, who here has a problem with how I run things? Speak now and I may give you a five second head start on getting out of here." She said warningly.
Everyone was quiet.
Yeah, Nathan may be the clan leader of Crimson Sun.
But Codie?
She was the boss and the clan leader.
And there was no doubt in his mind.
That the moment Nathan's back is turned?
Codie and Abel both will gang up and kill him.
Without a second thought.
