**Ziggy**

"I just think it's weird they can carry a baby." Rocky commented walking with me down the road that morning with Jayce who was looking in the windows at the different shops.
"It's weird but it makes me a little jealous that Moxie and the others get that experience when we can't." I commented.

"I thought with magic it was possible?" Jayce questioned in a soft but quiet voice.
I glanced to the smaller vampire with a frown.
"Do you know any mages who would actually come down here to pregnate a male vampire? Because I don't, our only choice is to adopt and that's if you get approved." My arms crossed as my brows knitted thinking more about it.

Rocky walked into the cafe for us to get our coffees before heading back out onto the streets, handing us our drinks as he took a sip of his.
"I don't like the idea of being a guy and carrying a kid inside of me, me and Jackie both have talked about it and he's just as against it as I am." He shrugged as I frowned at the other.
"But isn't Jackie against a lot of things?" I asked trying not to smirk at the other.
Rocky smirked softly.
"That's besides the point, Jackie is a known complainer." He shrugged defending his mate.

I smiled shaking my head.
"I guess the idea is a little silly, if the male vampires were to get pregnant, the wolf race would only accuse us of copying them. When news flash, no one wants to copy them when they're always angry all of the time and want to fight." I sighed.
Rocky nodded in agreement, his eyes on Jayce who was looking at the flowers.

"What's your opinion on the idea of male pregnancy, Jayce?" I questioned the blond who paused and looked at the two of us.
He was quiet before he brought his hands to his stomach, frowning softly as he thought about it.
"I don't really have an opinion," his thumbs brushed against his gray shirt as he looked down.
"I mean..." He rubbed the side of his neck.
"It's overwhelming, because it's already hard enough for the female vampire to get pregnant, and if a male could get pregnant faster than her? It wouldn't feel right to me, it's like we're stealing what they're supposed to do." He nibbled his bottom lip thinking about it.
"So I think I'm with Rocky about this, I don't really support the idea of male pregnancy.. It only happens to the male omega's because they're omega's." He said.

We just stared at the other.
"You know," Rocky rubbed his neck.
"I don't think I've ever heard you talk as much as you did just now." He commented as I nodded in agreement looking at the blond whose pale face was gaining color.
"W-Well don't ask if you don't want me to talk!" He glared shoving past us.

"No Jayce!" I laughed chasing after the other grabbing his wrist.
"We just meant, it was kind of nice hearing you say more than a sentence and you actually talked to us." I explained.
Jayce was frowning at me.
"That's because I never really have an opinion on anything you guys talk about, I choose to listen instead of throw my voice in and probably sound like an idiot." He looked away obviously embarrassed.

"Has anyone told you that you sound like an idiot for voicing your input on things?" Rocky asked him.
Jayce shook his head looking at us.
"Well no-"
"Then don't be afraid to talk if you want to, Rocky talks about stupid stuff half the time-"
"Hey!-"
"But I still find things to say to him." I grinned at the glaring black haired vampire.

Jayce was watching us before he let out this soft sigh nodding, he smiled at us.
"I'll try to work harder on finding things to say, hopefully not stupid things like Rocky does-"
"HEY!"
I grinned at the other.
"Good."

"How was your walk?" I heard Jensen's voice as I walked into our house, it smelled like vanilla and coffee, which only made me feel more full from the coffee that I had earlier.

"It was good, we heard Jayce talk and couldn't help but tease him over it." I said walking into the kitchen where my mate was.
He was cutting up chicken with his eyes already on me.
"Try not to tease him too much, Stetson has stressed over the fact he's real timid sometimes." He told me.
I nodded walking over to the other, joining his side before his lips were on mine.
"We just wanted to hear him talk, he's always quiet." I commented.
"There's a reason behind everything Z, we don't know his past just like I never knew about yours." He replied and I tried not to flinch before stepping back from him.

Jensen frowned at me.
"I didn't mean anything behind how I said that." He defended himself as I frowned at him.
"I know you didn't, but it's still the fact I was a part of that clan and if I had been smart, I could have found someone who could have killed her and maybe.. Crimson Sun wouldn't be coming here for more than one reason." I said.
"For more than one reason?" Jensen asked me frowning softly.
I frowned looking away as he stepped from the counter and carefully grabbed my shoulders looking at me.

"Why would they have more than one reason to come here besides trying to get Moxie's son?" He asked me.
I looked at him.
"Surely you've noticed it by now?" I felt this sad smile creeping up as I looked at him with knitted brows.
Jensen looked confused as he stared at me.
"No? Noticed what?"
"That my heart still beats?" I asked.

I watched him grow stiff as he stood there.
I took his hands off my shoulders, holding them for a moment as I looked away.

"When I was born, there were still a few humans who actually still existed, before you know. They were either killed or turned." I frowned softly.
"And my mom, she was captured by the very being that I am and used as a slave.." I could feel my eyes starting to burn.
"My mom was raped and when she found out she was pregnant, they waited until she had me before she was killed." I felt the tears slipping as I stood there.
"The vampires wanted to kill me as well, until they found out I was not just human but I was a vampire who shared their blood. But after they discovered what I was, that was when Codie showed up.. She slaughtered that entire vampire clan and stole me." I looked at him.

"I was the first hybrid she ever got her hands on without having to really fight for it." I stood there.
"She raised me and a bond was formed."
Jensen was frowning at me.
"So she's coming here for Magna's son and for you because you two share a bond?" He was angry, his eyes were black as I stood there.
"She called it a bond, she wanted me to be this merciless killer who took her spot if she were to ever be killed, but she never stopped to make sure that was something I wanted. From the moment I was born and taken into her custody, I knew she wasn't my mother, she never called herself that either, but she had a claim on me because I was a part of the thing that went extinct thanks to our race and the wolves." I rubbed my arm looking away.

"I'm terrified of her Jen, because I know that if she sees me, she'll waste no time trying to kill me for betraying her. That is why she's coming after me, to finish the job she didn't finish at the camp." I looked at him with knitted brows.

"Well that won't be happening, right?" He looked past me as I turned and froze seeing Rocky and the others there.
I stood there trembling.

Rocky stepped up first with a grin.
"So what if you're some bomb ass half vamp? You're still my best friend." He grabbed my hands.
"And as your best friend, I knew something was up today in town when you were also pushing for Jayce to talk to us, you were needing a distraction from something." He looked at me grinning.
"And just like that little Eve that was born? We'll keep you safe, ain't no way in hell we're letting some bitch come into either town and decide what she's picking out of the litter. She'll be killed before that happens." He told me.

I smiled softly looking at him then to Jackie and the others who were nodding in agreement.
"It's not every day we get told there's been a hybrid living in our town right under our very noses." Jackie commented with a shrug.
"And to be part of the race that no longer exists? I hate to say it, but that makes you a bit cooler than the baby, which I mean he'll still be pretty cool once he's older and stronger." Jackie shrugged.

"But for now." Emmy stepped up looking at me as she held her daughter.
"We'll focus on keeping you safe as well, being part human means your heart still beats and if someone were to stake you?" She frowned as I did the same.
"I'd die for real." I frowned.
Emmy looked at me.
"Which is why we won't let that happen, you're my precious friend who I love and care about, we won't let anything happen to you." She smiled softly looking at me.

I smiled softly at her.
"Thanks, Em."
She grinned looking at Jensen as I turned to him frowning softly.

His arms were crossed but his eyes were locked on me.
"Half human, half vampire, it doesn't matter to me." He shrugged stepping up and looked down at me.
"You're still the same goofy kid I fell in love with when you first came to town needing a place to stay, what was the first thing you did when you walked into our cafe?" He asked me with a smirk as my face began to burn.

"Didn't he trip?" Jackie smirked looking at me.
"My shoe was untied!" I cried.
"That would be my excuse too." He grinned at me.

I glared at Jensen for even bringing it up.
But he smiled softly at me.
"But you got up with a bloody nose and you yelled the biggest hello your lungs would let out, you wanted friends and in return, you got a real family and a lover." He placed his hands on my hips looking down at me.
"You made me fall faster than you could pick yourself up that day." He teased as I glared but relaxed feeling his lips on mine.

"Should we tell Magna and Joshua about this?" Stetson asked in the kitchen with his arms crossed.
"After Magna's house was pretty much broken into the other day, I feel like we should wait." Jensen commented.

"Wait, what?" Emmy looked alarmed.
"Their house was broken into and we're just now hearing about it? Is Moxie and the baby okay?" She was panicking.

"They're fine." Stetson smiled softly at her.
"But yeah, when we were visiting the other day, Dark Moon made an appearance." He frowned now.
Emmy was frowning deeply.
"And how did that go?" She asked.

Jensen frowned.
"According to them, they don't want the Eve dead either, it's actually the opposite. They want Moxie to hand over his son or go with them, but-"
"He said no, right?" Emmy glared.
Jensen nodded.
"He said no, but it has put us on high alert towards that now as well considering the clan leader himself was there, he pretty much told Moxie they would show up when he was least expecting them to." He explained.

Rocky and Jackie were frowning.
"You guys had your chance right there to kill them, why didn't you?" Jackie asked.
"Because we may have had them outnumbered in the house, but they had the entire house surrounded with his clan." Jensen frowned deeply looking at me.
"So even if we managed to kill either of them, we would have had to deal with the other wolves that would have poured into the house, and that would have only put the baby more at risk." He explained.

Jackie's brows were furrowed.
"So those damn dogs have already shown up before those vampire bastards have?" He asked.
Rocky looked at the other.
"We don't know for certain if the vampires have arrived yet either, they could already be here, because we're able to mask our scents when it comes to hiding." He said and for some reason.
That made me feel sick.

I went to the door and paused at the feeling of someone's hand grabbing mine.
I paused and looked to find Jayce there.
"Are you okay?"
I stared before smiling at him.
"Yes, I just need some air. It's stuffy in here." I told the other pulling the front door open and stepped outside.

Inhaling sharply I leaned against the brick wall and let out a soft but shaky sigh.
This was turning out more nightmarish than I wanted it to.

My eyes closed but they were quick to open at the sound of a baby wailing.
I looked around stepping away from the house.
My brows were knitted as I walked out onto the street.
How was no one else hearing this? There were still people on the street, but they were ignoring it.
Like the sound of a crying infant did not bother them.

I looked over my shoulder to the house wondering if I should ignore it as well, but what if something was actually wrong?
Clenching my fist I walked down the street looking down the alleys while being cautious the whole time.

The wailing was growing louder until I stood in the center of an alley that was pitch black.
This definitely screamed nope to me, but kids were easily abandoned by their parents nowadays, that something like this almost seemed normal to come across on.

Sucking in some of the cold air I walked down the alley looking for any sign of a baby being here.
"Where are you little one?" I questioned but froze at the sound of feet hitting the ground behind me.
I wanted to turn around, but everything inside of me was telling me that was a horrible idea.

"Hello, Ziggy." A voice greeted me and just as I went to turn to confront the other.
I was slammed into the wall.

And everything went dark.
