Dante's POV:

Stretching I lazily open my eyes to check the time on my phone.

5:27AM blares back in my face as I shit my eyes tightly at the brightness. Damn phone.

I lay in bed staring at the ceiling for a while because this bed is too comfy to get out of, it's like a soft cloud and I can already feel my eyes drooping again.

Blaring sounds in my ear and I sit up quickly and frantically search the room for my alarm knowing I needed to turn it off before he hears. I slam on the stop button as soon as it comes into view and stay silent for a few seconds as I stare at my surroundings. Remembering where I am I slump down a little, they're gone it's okay he can't get to me anymore.

After a couple more seconds of silence I see the door open and hear the dragging along the carpet, in walks Lucia yawning before sending me a small smile.

'Hey' she croaks. I chuckle from the sound of her morning voice and she throws a pillow hitting me directly in my face.

'Now that was just plain rude' I say to her with a completely straight face. She giggles before telling me to get up and come down for breakfast, who knows what other delicious food they're concocting right now.

Trudging into the bathroom after she leaves, I grab my toothbrush and toothpaste out of my wash bag and start brushing my teeth whilst staring into the mirror, the bruises will start to fade in a while which makes me happy knowing the physical reminder will soon fade away off my skin. The mental scars will take more time to heal but I have hope, whilst staring at the bruises I think about the future. Do I want to take them to court? They hurt me so badly but they're my parents. I shouldn't feel guilty because they're horrible people but there's always that small reminder that they're the people who raised me. No. I shouldn't think like that. They are not and never will be family. I should take them to court so I can get justice for not just me but Lucia. Maybe it will be the closure I need.

Evidence. That's what I need. I need to create a file against them so once I have gathered enough I can take them to court and win. I will not let them walk over me anymore. After spitting and rinsing I grab my phone, pull off my shirt and take pictures in the mirror of everything. Every small detail matters.

I must've been so lost in thought I didn't realise how long it had been so I quickly comb through my hair before changing into some plain grey joggers and a white vest. Heading down the stairs I get slightly lost but I find the dining room where I can see Lucia is sitting at the table already munching on something.

'Hey Dante do you want some pancakes, there's fruit and syrups and honey you can put on them' Vincenzo asks me

There's a delicious looking display of food on the table and I can already feel my hunger gnawing at me so I quickly sit down and grab a plate.

Three pancakes are plopped on my plate by someone and I debate what to put on them. Grappling some chocolate syrup and scooping some strawberries on top I dig in and my god this is delicious.

How can food taste this good? This must be heaven. I'm convinced.

'Apple, orange or water' I hear someone ask me. I hold up one finger hoping they get the message before apple juice gets poured into a glass and set right in front of my plate.

The sounds of knives and forks scraping across plates fills the silence of the room apart from the occasional giggle or huff from Antonio when he can't get the pancake on his fork. It's endearing really.

Looking up I see Riccardo concentrated on eating while Leonardo scrolls on his phone whilst eating some pancakes with blueberries. Vincenzo is sat next to Antonio helping to cut up his food into smaller pieces so he can pick them up properly and Antonio's hands are covered in strawberry syrup.

'So I have some work to do today because it's Friday but I can finish off early if you want to hang out in the living room. We could watch a movie and order in or something. Or you could just chill upstairs if your not comfortable with that yet'

Wow. That's kinda considerate. Although from the way Leonardo is glaring at us I can tell he's not too fond of the idea. I turn to Lucia and she's slightly easing her eyebrows as if to ask if I'm okay with it. I shrug. Might as well give it a chance

'Yeah sure we can do that. Besides I want to get to know more about this adorable little guy' she says slightly gushing over Antonio who giggles and smiles at us. Like I said. Absolutely adorable.

After everyone has finished breakfast Leonardo and Matteo head off for school since it's still a Friday and me and Lucia go to out separate rooms to lounge around a bit.

Maybe we'll explore the house a bit later so we don't get lost because that would be slightly embarrassing.

Apart from Leonardo's attitude things haven't been that bad since we've got here, but I know not to be stupid and believe this little fairytale life straight away. I know not every family is like the situation we had but it's normal instinct to be cautious after what we went through. Maybe I should consider getting a therapist but then again that would mean talking to someone other than Lucia, I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Everything is so fresh I need time to adjust before making any big decisions.

I decide to just go on my phone for a bit, scrolling social media and reading some online books. I used to be one of those people that thought reading was stupid but after I tried it one time I just got hooked. (^True shit though^) Reading is my way to pass time and escape reality but it's also just fun to do. There's so many different genres and kinds of books, there's something for everyone and it gets addicting very easily. It could be sappy romances or crime stories, dark romances, comedies and so many more. The possibilities are quite honestly endless.

At the moment I'm kind of hooked on fantasy stories. Vampires, werewolves that type of shit. I can't explain it but I'm definitely not the only one.

Before I know it, 2 hours have gone by and I haven't heard from Lucia so I decide to go knock on her door. Getting no answer I get slightly worried so I peer in slightly and see her passed out on the bed. Of course she is, I chuckle silently.

Since she's clearly busy I decide to go wander the house on my own. I know Leonardo and Matteo are at school and Riccardo working but I don't know if Vincenzo has left the house or not and where Antonio is. They're probably here somewhere I'm assuming Vincenzo works from home to look after Tonio.

Deciding I've got nothing better to do I start to wander
