Chapter 8: "I like you" 'You're cute.'

Apparently no one had found anything, so they all decided to go home. Nolan didn't want to go home yet; he'd rather spend more time with Alec. He walked over to Derek's car where Alec was waiting. "Derek still saying goodbye to Stiles?" Nolan asked. "More like goodbye making out. I mean, really?? He's coming over for dinner tonight! Theyre not seeing each other for like 4 hours tops and yet they act like they'll never see each other again!" "I think it's cute. I understand why it irritates you, but in my opinion it's also kinda cute. I hope someday I find someone I don't want to be without for even just a few hours." Nolan argued, and all Alec could think was 'You're cute.' and 'I already did, you.'.

Nolan interrupted Alec's thoughts with a question, "By the way, I was wondering if you'd like to go hang out with me? There's a new action movie showing at the cinema, and I thought maybe we could go see it." "Nolan, you're my best friend, why are you still anxious asking me to hang out? I'll go tell Derek I won't be there this afternoon. Oh, and if it's okay with you can we grab dinner afterwards, I don't want to sit through dinner with them if I can avoid it." Nolan laughed and then replied, "We can grab dinner afterwards. Now, go tell Derek and I'll check when the movie is playing next."

Alec went over to Derek and Stiles, still making out, and told them he was hanging out with Nolan. After yet another joke from Stiles he went back to Nolan, and they started driving towards the cinema. The movie wasn't showing for half an hour, and it was a 20-minute drive, so they should have some time. The traffic was light, so they made it there early and still had 10 minutes to spare before they had to go in. They decided to just walk around the park for a while. Nolan was happily talking about how adorable the ducks were. Alec agreed but wasn't talking about the ducks. He was looking at Nolan the entire time.

Then they went back to the cinema and bought some popcorn. They had a short, but heated, debate about what's better, sweet, or salty. Nolan ordered a sweet popcorn, and Alec looked at him almost offended. "Really? Sweet popcorn? I'm disappointed.", he said. Nolan looked at him sarcastically and then said, "What?! You like your popcorn to be bunch of salty shits?" "How dare you, salty popcorn tastes delicious, it is perfect and a gift from angels. Sweet popcorn on the other hand is an evil corruption of the salty goodness that is popcorn." Nolan snorted with laughter but then teased Alec, "Since when are you so poetic?" "Oh, shut up!" They both laughed as they entered the theatre and found their seats. The movie was just about to start.

When the movie had ended, they went to have dinner. They decided to go to the restaurant they always go to. It's where Scott had introduced the two of them and they've come back a lot ever since. The regular host knows them by name by now. Today however there was someone they'd never seen before. "Hey! Welcome!" He greeted them. "Hi, table for two please" Alec responded. The host checked his tablet and then started leading them to a table. It looked very different from their usual spot. He led them to a booth. Alec and Nolan sat down opposite each other. "Can I get you two anything to drink?" "Just two sodas please." "I'll go grab those for you." Then he left.

Alec looked around for the first time and realised that this booth was romantic as hell, the new host must've thought they were a couple. Alec started blushing. He was too busy with trying to hide his own blushing to notice that Nolan was blushing just as much. Alec was about to say something but was interrupted by the waiter coming over to give them their drinks. The boys thanked him, and he left. They went back to deciding what they wanted to eat. Alec saw a new item on the menu and said, "Ooh I like the sound of that new one.", which prompted Nolan to say "Well, I like you" without thinking, but then immediately added "r sweater, it's cute.". Alec started blushing and thought 'You're cute' but instead of saying that he said, "Thanks, your hoodie's cute too."

They ate their dinner and then went back home, Nolan dropping Alec off at Derek's. When Alec got back up to the loft Stiles was still there. He and Derek were watching a movie. It was most likely some kind of horror, since Derek was laughing but Stiles was making a sound more akin to whimpering. Alec walked in and greeted them, "Hey guys, watcha watching?" "Oh hey, welcome back Alec! We're just watching Derek's favourite movie, which is scary as hell! How can you like this stuff??? Anyway, how was your little date with Nolan?" Stiles responded. Alec glared at him, "It wasn't a date, well not an official one anyway, but it was fun." Stiles looked at him in confusion, "What do you mean by it not being an official date? Hold on. Sour wolf, pause the movie. I wanna hear this." Derek laughed and then paused the movie. "I told you not to call me that!" he sarcastically yelled at Stiles. "Shut up so I can listen to Alec."

Alec then started to explain, "Okay, so we went to see a movie. After we went to dinner, you know the usual place. The host was new, and I guess she thought we were a couple cuz she put us in a really romantic booth, which wasn't awkward at all. Anyway we started looking through the menu. There was a new item and it looked pretty good, so I said: 'I like the sound of that new one'. Nolan wasn't thinking I guess and blurted out 'Well I like you' and then he panicked, I could see it on his face, but god could I smell it. He basically immediately added 'r sweater, it's cute'. Then I kinda just played it off and complimented his hoodie. Then we just had a regular dinner." "Okay, what?? So he basically accidentally told you he liked you?!" Stiles exclaimed in surprise. "Yeah..." Alec said with a sheepish grin on his face. "Now the question is, what are you going to do about it?"
