Calm Waters

It echoed through the chapel, and the choir began their smooth singing. The preacher talked about some historical facts, and based her theme of forgiveness from there. There is malice in everyone, but so is the power to forgive. Beings make mistakes, misjudgements, our minds are often clouded. But none of that means I'm a bad person. It means I've set the wrong priorities first. Lady Bhaskara, the goddess of flames and emotion, is what I came looking for.

The preaching of the day ended. Some beings exited from the front side, and others from the back, separating into their designated clans. I stepped outside into the light clan, where Sebaiwhyn's parents awaited for me.

"It's a five day trip from where we live. We won't be back here for a long time. We had to come because we had a vision we'd finally get to see our son. But you will suffice as a messenger. Tell him that we're okay. And that mom, dad, and all his siblings are waiting for him to return. That's all we need," Che Donata said.

"Of course, Che Donata," I said, and smiled softly.

"Thank you, Chee Ceceir, we will never be thankful enough," Che Donata gave me a kiss on the forehead, and headed her way back home, holding her husband's arm.

After picking up Urer fully washed and fed, I rode quickly back to Sebaiwhyn's house. Everybody's bags were propped outside his house. I knocked, and Phaedra answered the door.

"Ceceir!" she yelled, and hugged me. I didn't hug back, looking inside the house.

"Hi," I said awkwardly. The air was still tense from our arguments, so I only directed my attention to Phaedra, "Are you guys okay?"

"Not at all!" she exclaimed happily, "Icarus has no idea of what he's doing. I don't know where Twyla is. And Venus and Morgan have been staring at the fireplace this whole time. Also, I'm super hungry."

I chuckled. Not at her hunger, but at the way she said it, "It's okay, Phaedra. I'll make something to eat in a minute. Can you bring Sebaiwhyn over here?" She yelled his name obnoxiously. I heard him stomping down the stairs.

"Hey, Ceceir. You're back," he said enthusiastically, yet a soft tone in his voice, "Glad the underworld didn't open on your way back."

"How are they doing?" I asked, "I ask you because I don't think they want to hear from me right now."

"Well. Venus hasn't spoken a word to any of them. Icarus is lost, and Twyla is very lost," he said, "Morgan has just been staring at the fireplace all evening."

"Just like back home," I said solemnly, "I need to talk to you. I went to the chapel."

"Religious?" he seemed surprised. We walked away from the house and stood next to Brilliance.

"I haven't been to a chapel in fourteen years. But it was nice," I hesitated, not wanting to tell him more, "I saw beings there that you know. Very important beings."

"Who?"

I stared blankly at the setting sun behind him, "Je Borekin and Che Donata."

His expression changed from casual to broken. He covered his face with his hand, and I heard silent sobs underneath. I didn't have the ability to comfort him.

"My parents. They're alive," he cleared his sobs, and his deep voice resumed, "What did they say?"

"They said that they are okay, and that they, and all your siblings are waiting for you."

"Oh, I can't wait to see them again," he thought about what he said next, "Too bad I can't cross into the light clan."

In the distance, we heard the stomping of royal mounts, and the rousing sounds of fanfare. A carriage pulled up to the house, Jee Jacan smiling from the inside. He looked and felt like a different person. One that wasn't so crude and cold. Shortly after, Twyla walked out of Sebaiwhyn's house. Her eyes seemed dead, sleepy, and exhausted, as the rest of her body shined in glamour. She wore a black long dress that made her boobs pop. Lacy and fancy. Her hair, done in a great updo. She looked like a princess, and it was obvious she had never seen herself this way before. Yet, she frowned. A full face of makeup, without a face to fit it.
