Aida point of veiw ~ It was our first official game against Kaijō. If we beat them then we will know if we have shot at the inter high. We have been playing against other teams around our region and we have beaten them. But Kaijō is an elite school. So if we can beat them that means we a shot at going to the inter high.
"Okay boys are you all ready to play"Nanami-Senpai asked "yes we are coach"they all said excitedly "with Kuroko and I playing we are sure to win"Kagami said "you two aren't playing until I say so. The second years will be playing until further notice. First years are benched"Nanami-Senpai said
"Wait how come you're not putting them in. If we put them in we can rack up the points quickly"I said and she glared at me scaring me "because I need to make sure that my second years aren't slacking off. And you can't just rely on Kagami and Tetsu. They aren't the only good players on the team. Each and every single player here I have trained. I need to make sure that my training isn't going to waste"She sneered
"Yes ma'am but there's more to that statement isn't there"I asked "there is but it will be revealed in due time. But this game is going to be a learning opportunity for the first years so make sure you all pay attention understood"Nanami-Senpai said "yes coach"they said and headed out.
"Riko. I want you watch all of them carefully because this will be my last season coaching. After the winter cup I will be retiring from coaching high school basketball"She said
"What are you going to do after"I asked "depends on how this season plays out and if we can beat two teams"she said "which two teams"I asked "Kirisaki Daiichi High and Rakuzan High"she said and we headed out.
"The two teams which uncrowned kings other then us and one has the captain of the generation of miracles"I said "Yup. When we get to the point I will reveal why Kiyoshi and I want to beat them"She explains as we sat down with the first years. Nanami-senpai took out a lollipop and put in her mouth.
She has a candy obsession "watch the game everyone and take mental notes as well"she said getting a camcorder out and started to replay record the game.
They were all pretty even. The score was 50-48 when it was half time. Our team ran back over "you guys are doing amazing with blocking and guarding"Kawahara said
"Coach what's wrong"Hyūga asked and we looked to the coach who was looking up at the ceiling and she sighed "the game is going to be tipping in Kaijō's favor next quarter"Nanami-Sensoai said "does that mean they are putting Kise in"I asked "yes"she said "does that mean Kuroko and I are finally going to play next quarter"Kagami asked
"Nope your asses are staying on the bench third quarter"Nanami-Senpai answered "but Oneesan if they put Kise in we are going to get crushed"Kuroko said and his sister sent him a glare that scared all of us "Have fate in your teammates not to let the gap get to big"Nanami-Senpai said "yes coach"the first years said
"Don't let the gap get to big"Nanami-Senpai said "yes coach"the second years said and the whistle blew. Once the game started again the Kaijō team play completely changed and the gap started to get bigger.
It was finally the final quarter. We were behind 20 points. The score was 80-60. Before the whistle blew to start the last quarter Nanami-Senpai sighed "Ref I need a play change"Nanami-Senpai said "okay who are you switching"the referee asked "All of them"Nanami-Senpai said "are you sure it's the last quarter"the referee said "I'm sure"Nanami -Senpai said
"We're going in with which play"Furihata asked "Your going to defend and shoot. Watch each other's blind spots and don't let them get the ball. Kagami don't miss"Nanami-Senpai said "yes coach"they said "I want you to crush them understood. Teach Kise Ryouta the real meaning of basketball"Nanami-Senpai said "yes Oneesan"Kuroko said and they switched.
"Are you sure about this coach"Izuki asked "yes I'm sure I have faith in them"Nanami-Senpai said "how come you put them in this late"Hyūga asked "I wasn't going to put any of them in. But the gap is too big and the Kaijō coach was about to take Kise out of the game so I had to switch my tactics"Nanami-Senpai explains
"It's going to be a change to see them play together in a official match. I hope they're ready"I said "they are. They play together every weekend. The five of them have become great friends like theses five. They are finding their own basketball together so they don't drag the team down. They are growing together and Kagami has them all train so they don't fall behind. He kuroko to have a better experience on a team that actually knows one another and helps one another grow"She explains
"Oh wow that's so cute"I said already shipping Kurokaga "two bottoms don't make a top. Kuroko is spoken for just like Kagami"Senpai said "by who"I asked "you'll find out eventually but it might be during the winter cup"she said "that is months away"I whined and she just smirked "don't worry after they defeat them you'll find out who it is"Senpai said and we decided to watch the game after that.
I was amazed by their team play. Kagami was blocking Kise the entire time and actually passed the ball to everyone else when he knew he couldn't make the basket. The gap quickly disappeared and now we were in the lead. Kise was getting completely frustrated and looked like he was about to cry when the buzzer rang.
I was shocked with the gap. It was 100-98. We won by two points. We actually won. We cheered and the other team congratulated us. Senpai went to talk the the other coach who was amazed and probably scheduling more practice matches. This was honestly interesting.
