I had gone to the nurse after my incident and my nurse of a mother lectured me on safety when I got home. It was horrid.
While I was in the nurse though Jason texted me freaking out that I was with Gwen - I think he has a crush on her.

But Thursday.
I went back to my pictures and noticed I hated a lot of them. So I went early before school, took pictures at lunch, along with Gwen hanging out with me and I gave her the whole daily bugle story. And she stayed with me after school and actually gave me some good ideas of what to shoot.

For being two years older than me I've really grown to love Gwen. She seems to just get me.
I don't know how to explain it.

Peter and I haven't gotten much time to talk during classes but we have said hi basically every time we see each other. And I was hoping get to see him after school Thursday when I was in the academic decathlon room but he wasn't there.
His internship must be super important. But I understand.. probably more than anyone.

Friday came sooner than I would've liked
I was stressing all day about my pictures that I completely forgot about an assignment I had to do for math. But I was able to finish it during lunch.

After school I got a good collection of my pictures printed and headed out to the daily bugle office.

Peter sent me a text wishing my luck with getting the job on the subway. It really eased my extreme nerves. J.Jonah Jameson scares me but along with having to get a job from him purely from my own pictures is SO scary.

I walked in and Jamesons front desk lady let me leave my backpack with her, thankfully. I didn't know what to do with it since I just went straight after school to printing my pictures

I walked in a Jameson looked very into whatever he was looking at on his desk

But he quickly bounced up
"Ah good to see you again!"
He says loudly
"You have my pictures?"

I walk over to his desk and put them down. We both sit down and he flips through my pictures

"You got quite a lot"
He says and I just nod

He gets to the last of the pictures and closes the folder
"Well kid. You're great at what you do.."

Uh oh this doesn't sound like it's going in a good direction

"And it seems like you'll be able to do what I need you to.."
"So you've got the job! The actual job not an intern"

"Wait-I'm not going to be an intern?"

He shakes his
"Nope! You have potential kid. Just keep proving that you can do what I need you to and you'll stick around"
He laughs

"So.. what am I shooting next?"
I eagerly ask

He looks down at my folder of photos
"Well for one this newspaper for these pictures of yours will be out Monday. And as for your next assignment. I'll be needing pictures of Spider-Man"

Spider-Man..
did he really just say what I think he said

"What..?"

"I need pictures of the guy. Nobody can get any. He seems to be a ghost. Not even my news casters can do it. But I think you can. You get perfect pictures of your football team why is the superhero any different"
He says standing up

"No I don't think you understand-"

I start to say but he cuts me off and he starts walking over to the side of the room
"I've gotten one picture of him. It wasn't even cover material. The guy doesn't do much but yet the town is fascinated with him. I'll need the pictures on Wednesday"
He turns around to me as I start to talk again
"But-"
"Any more questions ask the woman out those doors"

I nod and walk out
Shit

I grab my backpack from her and walk out

I find a bench and FaceTime Betty

She immediately starts talking
"Did you get the job?!"

"Yes but-"
I start to say but she starts talking fast excitedly

"Betty! Calm down. He's making me photograph Spider-Man!"

Her face goes flat
"What.. I couldn't get a single video of the guy that wasn't blurry. I was like 50 feet away and he was flipping and doing some dumb stuff- But being your second task when you get hired is just cruel!"

"I know. And Spider-Man is just so overrated- ugh and I want this job I just.. I don't know how I'm going to do it. I think I might ask Peter and Gwen for help"
I say with a sigh

"Ooo peter"
Betty teases
"You never told me and the gang what the deal between you two is."

"I'll text or call the groupchat later"
I say and she nods

"Got it. T.T.Y.L"

-

When I'm home I find myself laying in bed staring at the ceiling.

My phone buzzes and I look over and it's Gwen calling me

I sit up and answer it

"How'd it go"
She asks

"I'm hired"
I say unenthusiastically

"Why don't you seemed the least bit thrilled about that?"

"I have to photograph Spider-Man."

"Easy. Isn't he like around town every afternoon"

"Yeah but no one is able to get pictures of him."
I stand up and open my window to let some cold air in

"My dad might be able to help"
She says so nonchalantly

Right... her dad is a literal police officer. He probably works with spiderman all the time.

"Also... I may or may not have already started planning a party for tonight.. for you getting the job cause my parents are out of town tonight. So you better get your ass over here and bring a cute dress and a curling iron and your makeup soon"

"A party?! Gwen it's-"

"A perfect day for a party! It's a Friday, you just got a new job, and I have a huge house alone ready for a party and Flash has been begging me to let him dj something of mine so. Get your ass over here!"

She hangs up and I sigh.
Well I guess I have no choice but to go
