"MOMMY! MUSIC!" I yelled up the stairs. We were both ignoring the beeping coming from the kitchen signaling that the chicken was ready.
"Whataya' wanna' listen to?" She called back, at a slightly lesser volume.
"I don't know! Just pick something. Just not Meat Loaf, I have a feeling the chicken will turn on us if we listen to Meat Loaf." I answered and skipped back into the kitchen. I turned off that really annoying beeping thingy and poked one of the potatos I was about to peel.
"What are you doing?" My mom asked as she came into the kitchen holding a stack of CDs.
"Nothing madre. Nada."
"Oh the Spanglish. Stop the Spanglish." She said and shook her head. She tossed a CD case at me and I jumped instead of catching it. It fell to the floor with a small crash and I hid in the corner. My mom just looked at me.
"It's plastic, I promise you it will not hurt you." She said as she calmly walked over to the fallen CD case and handed it to me.
"You have no proof-" Ding! Dong! "BABIES!" I squeaked, running past my mother and attacking the front door.
"My girls!" I yelled and took the baby carriers from Benji as I opened the door. "Jasey, Autumn, nice to see you this fine evening." I said and took them out of the carriers. "Yes it is, oh yes it is, nice to see my beautiful 'wittle girlies!" I continued to speak in baby babble.
Ozzy Osbourne started blasting from the kitchen, and my mom came into the living room.
"Benji, Lyn, how have you been?" She said and she hugged each of them.
"Good, good. Ya' know, working, trying not drop small people, the usual." Benji said and took a seat on the couch.
A few minutes later the doorbell rang again. I looked at my mom, confused, and noticed that she was mirroring my expression.
"Did you...?" I asked.
"No, you didn't...?" She replied.
"Nah. Oh well, the more the merrier...hope we have enough chicken." I smiled and skipped to the door. Tonight was bound to be interesting.
