"Maria. No." Lyndzey said as I desperately tried to get her to help me throw a baby shower. She said no. Dang it.
"But WHY?!" I whined.
"'Cause he doesn't want one and he'll kill me if I help. Maria, right now, Benji and I are just worrying about where the babies'll sleep, please don't go all overboard and stress him out too much 'kay," she said and looked up from the baby name book she was reading.
"Fine. Your no fun, ya' know that?"
"Well, it's not all the time I get to freak out over becoming a honorary baby mama." She said matter-of-factly.
The next week, I was putting the finishing touches on the living room. My living room. I didn't just break into a random house to use their living room I promise, I'm using my own. I was in full out party setup mode. Sterling sat back and watched as the room went from normal living room, to pink galore in a matter of minutes. He looked horrified. I decided that since Benji is a dude, it would be one of those modern co-ed baby showers. Fun fun fun.
The only thing that really bothered me, was all the pink. I mean, for a baby (or two) it's fine, but I don't like pink for me. Or anyone else. Except babies. And it isn't obnoxious pink, it's cute light pink, some of it almost purple. I like that kind of pink, for these circumstances. Benji and Lyndzey are coming over at three. Everyone else at two. Surpising as it is, the two of them do have other friends. You would think I was enough to handle.
The doorbell rang. I squeaked. The first guest was here!
"Hi Maria!" Lyndzey's friend Marigold said and she hugged me. She then gave me a bag, with a gift in it, and bounced inside. Over the next twenty minutes, everyone else came. There were about thirty five people here. I knew they wouldn't want something big.
An hour later Benji and Lyndzey arrived. I had told them to dress nice, and we were goin' on a double date. I looked out the window, and as soon as he got out of the car, I saw Benji's face as he saw all the cars. He. Was. Pissed. Lyndzey just pat his arm and gave him a slight hug. Damn, I really thought he'd see that this was a good idea when he got here. I gotta' learn not to surpise that boy. He is ungreatful.
