I'd never known a happier place:
The bustling crowds, vibrant streets and mind boggling eats.
Every street a new adventure,
Every block a world of it's own.I'd never known a more hopeful place:
The Empire State that reminds you to reach for the stars,
Madam Liberty who inspires the best in you,
Every curb, every stop-light, every sign,
Beckoning you to never bid goodbye.I'd never known a more exciting place:
I'd become a kid again at the Disney Store,
Time seemed to have stopped when I stepped into the Oculus,
I'm still filled with regret for not robbing the M&M store.I'd never known a more accepting place:
Treated me like one of it's own.
Respected my ideologies like I'd made it in this world.
Taught me I needed to beleive in myself more.
Didn't give a thought about my accent, skin color or clothes.I'd steal for your Cannolini,
Kill for your Cappuccino.
Don't even get me started on your Everything Bagels:
And the heavenly bliss that filled me after my first bite. With every other store on every single block,
Flaunting merch that said, 'I <3 NY',
How could my starry-eyed teenage self not fall in love?
Oh New York, it's been five odd years,
But I'd sleep on your streets if I could.
