It felt weird being back.

When I left for California 5 years ago I never gave coming back a second thought.

I had no plans of taking over my fathers company, no matter how much he pushed. It just wasn't for me. But naturally I underestimated how far he was willing to go to get what he wanted.

He bought the law firm I worked for in California and essentially fired me. Stating he would continue to interfere with my life unless I agreed to come back and work for the company.

Psychotic right?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem working for my dad or taking over the company. I just hate the idea of my life being planned out and directed without my say so. For as long as I can remember I've always lived by just going with the flow, taking risks and doing as I pleased. So when my father told me I would have to take over his company and his responsibilities when he retired I hated the sound of that.

He didn't even ask me if that's what I wanted.

I don't get to make any stops on my way from the airport. My father demanded that I come straight to the company after I touch down. It had already started..

I haven't seen my father since I left. We had kept in touch sure, he had made sure to call every few months to rant about how I should of majored in business and not law, and how I was wasting his money. Then when I graduated and started working under a law firm he would call to rant about when I would be coming back and give up my "ridiculous" as he called it, job as a lawyer.

I walk into the lobby and immediately the room goes silent. I can hear whispers and can obviously gather that they were about me.

It's no secret who I was to the workers. I practically grew up in this building, but again, I hadn't been back since I left five years ago.

I walk up to the receptionist and remove my shades.

She catches my gaze and per usual she starts drooling.

"Hello there sweetheart. Would you mind calling my father and letting him know that I'm here?" I say with a slight smirk.

That seems to do the trick because she blushes harshly and nods. She reaches for the phone without taking her eyes off of me.

She talks rather quickly and quietly into the phone before hanging up and goes back to fully staring at me.

I raise a brow at her. Surely she can see how weird this was. Then again they never seem to.

Just when I'm about to ask her if I can head up I hear the elevator doors open.

"Son!" I hear my father's deep voice boom.

He walks towards me opening his arms for a hug but I grab his hand for a handshake instead. Something he seems not to notice.

"Look at you! You've truly grown into a respectable young man ." My father says sounding almost proud.

"It's good to see you too pop, but why did you come down? I was about to come up to you?" I ask looking down at his briefcase in hand. "Are you leaving?"

"No we are." he says then starts walking towards the exit. I hadn't noticed that his driver was still parked out front from I arrived.

"And where might we be going." I ask barely trying to keep up with his pace.

"To a meeting!" he yells over his shoulder knowing I was not directly behind him.

Great so it begins.
