Asher ❄️

________________________________________________________

After we left the diner, well more so me walking out while Arabella rants about me getting her stuck out here. I drive further into town leading to its outskirts. When we start to see more forest and less buildings Arabella gets a panicked look on her face and I can't help but laugh.

"Asher I'm sorry for calling you all those names but there's no need to kill me because we can't go back to the city." She says with a pale face.

I snort looking towards her.

"First off, if I wanted to kill you I had many wonderful opportunities to do so our entire life." I point out.

She squints at me which causes me to laugh.

A few minutes later I pull down a gravel road and it isn't long before a cabin comes into view.

"Who's cabin is this?" Arabella says looking actually surprised by how nice it is.

Without responding I drive around back and press a button. A second later a voice comes in.

"Mr. Hendrix, what a pleasant surprise." a man's voice says.

"Henry why do we always have to go over this." I say rolling my eyes.

"Asher sorry, what can I do for you."

"I'm outside, can you please open the garage."

"Yes sir right away, and how long will you be staying so that we can prepare your room and other necessities." he asks.

"Just for one night. And please tell Abigail to prepare two rooms," I say before ending the call.

I look over to Arabella who is already looking over to me with her eyebrow raised.

"What?" I ask her before pulling into the garage.

"You have a place out here too? Just how often did you come out here and how did your father not notice? And how do you have staff out here. Do you just leave them out here until you decide to come back?" she asks squinting at me again suspiciously.

"Why do you ask so many questions, can't you just live life on the edge by not knowing everything." I ask her but based on her facial expression I suspect she is still looking for an answer.

"I bought this place when I was sixteen. A few months after I found this town. I only stayed here when my dad was out of town for work so he never noticed. And the staff is allowed to live here as long as they maintain the place. They are from this town also so it wasn't an inconvenience." I explain turning the car off.

The cabin wasn't necessarily a small cabin. It was two story, wooden built, ten bedrooms, one master and eight and a half bathrooms. This cabin takes camping to another level, my level, but I try not to brag.

Henry walks up to the car along with another worker and opens the doors for us.

"Welcome back sir." he says with a grin. "And it's refreshing to see someone else come to stay here other than yourself." Henry says smiling at Arabella as well.

I squeeze my eyes shut already regretting that he mentioned that to her. Hopefully she doesn't bring it up.

We walk inside and Arabella comes to stand on the side of me.

"What does he mean by someone other than you coming to stay here?" she asks.

"Come on princess, I know you're much smarter than that." I say with a wink.
