Chapter Twenty-Eight

"Happy Birthday!" Sirius yells as I blow out the candles on the cake Lauren made. It's June 12th, my birthday. We've already opened presents and now we're about to cut the cake.

The house is full of people and I couldn't be happier. Freya invited Regulus so he is here. The boys and Finn are here too along with Lily and Marlene. Peter invited Mary but she couldn't make it.

"Ohhhhh I can't believe my baby is seventeen! You've grown up so fast!" Dad yells hugging me around the shoulders while Lauren takes a picture.

I laugh at him and hug him back. James and Sirius are next, they come over and James kisses me on one cheek and Sirius does the other. Lauren snaps a picture and I shove them off. Next comes Finn and Jace, they stand behind me and throw up peace signs as Lauren takes the picture. Dad starts cutting and passing out cake. Everyone is happy.

Freya and Regulus come to get a picture and they both hug me and put their heads against mine so I'm sandwiched between them. I think this is going to be one of my favorite picture. Regulus is starting to become part of the family and we are doing everything we can to help him.

After them I get a few pictures with the girls then Remus comes over for a picture with me. Of course he has to be super extra about it. He pulls me out of my seat and slings his arm around me. At first I think he is just going to take a normal picture but then he takes his other hand and smears cake all over my face. I gasp and he starts laughing.

I stand up on my toes and try to kiss him. He tries to resist at first but then gives up and kisses me on the lips getting cake all over himself too.

We get cleaned up then go sit with everyone in the living room. We visit for awhile but then Lily and Marlene end up having to leave pretty early. Finn leaves shortly after they do. After Finn left Jace went to his room so it is just the boys, Freya, Regulus, and I in the living room. Things are going great until the war gets brought up.

"So Peter I heard one of Rosiers old friends came to you about joining." Regulus says casually.

Peter and I are the only ones who were supposed to know about that...I guess everyone knows now.

All the boys sit up and look over at him questioningly. Peter visibly pales.

"They did but I didn't accept" he says avoiding eye contact.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Sirius questions.

"Didn't seem that important." Peter replies shrugging.

He's really nervous and I can tell he's not telling the whole truth. We don't push though, we'll figure it out a different day.

Shortly after that Peter excuses himself and leaves.

"I'm sorry if I said something I shouldn't have." Regulus apologizes.

"It's fine. We need to get the sorted out though, can you keep an eye on that for us? He was being awful suspicious about it." I say.

Regulus nods but Sirius interjects, "I'm sure it's nothing."

"We still need to keep an eye on it...Peter is very impressionable." Remus says.

The boys all nod grimly.

"I can't believe Ellie-Bellie is seventeen! Now all of us are of age." Sirius says coming over to the couch Remus and I are seated on.

He plops down beside me and Remus rolls his eyes.

"So when will the children be coming along?" He asks Remus.

I giggle and Remus smiles and shoves him off the couch. Sirius gets back up and takes his seat beside James again. We sit in a comfortable silence before Freya jumps up from her seat with wide eyes.
