Chapter Thirty-Nine

Remus POV
The next day James and I get up early and head to the jewelry shop. We invited Sirius but he says he isn't getting up that early and he isn't looking to propose yet.

Marlene is going to be waiting forever on a ring.

"What about this one?" James says pointing at a very fancy ring.

"James, I barely have enough money to pay for a haircut. How am I supposed to buy that." I remark.

"With money." He says back.

I scoff and look away from him.

"Looks like you can't afford a razor either. Are you trying to look like a homeless man?"

I smack his arm and walk away.

"Need help finding something?" A worker asks.

I jump because she scared me. She is like 4 foot five and I didn't even see her.

"Yeah, I'm looking for an engagement ring." I say trying to not sound startled.

"What's your budget?"

An hour later James and I both walk out with rings. I picked out something simple but I think she will like it.

I'm not sure when I'm going to propose but I'm hoping to do it soon.

I tell James goodbye and apparate home.

"Ella, I'm home!" I yell closing the door behind me.

I go to the bedroom and hide the ring in my nightstand.

"Love?" I yell. I have no idea where she is or if she is even home. Freya doesn't seem to be here so they may have went to visit Lauren and her dad.

"I'm in the bath." She says from the bathroom.

I walk in there and sit down on the counter top. She is in the tub taking a bubble bath. The bubbles are preventing me from seeing anything and it's slightly disappointing.

"Where have you been?" She asks.

"James and I slept late then went and got breakfast." I lie.

"Freya and I went to go see dad and Lauren. Freya is staying at the Order for now but that's only going to last until Lauren gets out of the hospital." She says tiredly.

I nod before getting up and giving her a light kiss. I walk out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. I grab me a soda and some chocolate for Ella before heading back to the bathroom.

I hand her the chocolate before undressing and getting into the tub with her.

"Remus we don't fit in here very well." She grumbles trying to move her legs to make room for mine.

"I'm trying to spend quality time with my girlfriend." I retaliate.

"What if your girlfriend wants some quality time by herself."

I ignore her and lean my head against the side of the tub and sigh loudly. I close my eyes and start to relax.

I'm actually pretty relaxed until the water moves and I feel Ella's hand on my thigh. At first I think she is getting out of the tub but then she moves to where she is sitting in my lap with her legs around me. Not the most comfortable position to be in when you are in a small tub, but I don't care. I look at her and lift my eyebrow. She leans against me and starts leaving soft kisses on my neck.
