PETER PARKER WORKED FAST. HE had refilled his web shooters so many times that it became second nature to him, which explained how he could remember every single specific instruction on the procedure. In no time he was completely finished and ready to meet back up with the others, but first, he had other plans.

He knew his chances of spending another moment with Maelyn alone were slim. He knew that after the villains were defeated, he would have to head back to his universe by himself. He wouldn't have his aunt, his uncle, his parents, his best friend. He wouldn't have Maelyn, and that was all he cared about.

"Peter?" She asked when he hesitantly stopped in front of the door, blocking her path. Without second guessing himself, the boy spun around and wrapped his arms around her neck, holding her small body close to his with a guttering sigh. He didn't want their moment to end; he didn't want to leave her.

"Just in case you don't see me again." He mumbled into her hair as her hands crept up his back, clinging onto the back of his lab coat. She truly believed that he wouldn't ever leave her, even if that was the only thing crowding the male's mind. She felt so attached to him that she couldn't possibly let him go - not then, not ever.

"Don't say that." She whispered into the thin material of the white jacket. She knew as soon as even the thought of him leaving her crossed her mind, she would be falling to the ground in shambles. It might have only been a few days since they first laid their eyes on each other, but that was enough for one to catch feelings. That small amount of time was enough for a girl like Maelyn-Jae and a boy like Peter to grow a connection like no other. Even if it was the only thing they didn't want to do.

"You said it the other day." He shrugged as he pulled away, fighting back the urge to let the tears flooding his eyes fall. "Things are going to go back to normal."

"I don't want them to go back to normal. Look, I can talk to Peter and I'm sure-" Maelyn began to suggest as her thoughts ran wild. She was using all of her intelligence, all of her skill, to try and find a way to keep her Peter in the universe she lived in. She couldn't bear to see him go.

"Maelyn." He cut her off as he cupped her chin, running his thumb along the side of her jawline. He stared deeply into her eyes as they whirled with shades of royal blues and colours of cornflowers. "You said it yourself, this can't work. I don't belong here."

"You told me you wanted to stay. You told me you wanted to try, so why can't we now?" She passionately argued. Her face was red, whether it be from the anger pulsating through her body or the closeness of the two young adults, she didn't know. All she did know was that she wasn't going to back down. She was going to fight for him, even if he'd already given up.

"Because I could die, Maelyn!" He shouted angrily. Before long, the tears that had welled up against the bottom of his eyelid spilled over his lashes, trickling down his clear skin. "I don't know what's going to happen out there, but there's a good chance I won't make it out alive."
