Hollyberry had never asked to be a dragonet of destiny. She had certainly never asked to be kept in a cave her entire life learning about a war she was supposably meant to end with her friends. Yet here she was, bored out of her brain studying the history of Pyrrhia. Like studying would help them once they got out in the real world.
"You know, none of this studying is really necessary if you think about it." Golden Cheese complained, voicing the thoughts Hollyberry had been thinking only moments ago, "Once we get out into the real world it's not like we're gonna choose the next SandWing queen based off of what a dumb old scroll says"
"We may not choose the next SandWing queen based off of a scroll, but it's not a crime to be well educated." Dark Cacao spoke up, the star-like scales on his wings shimmering in the light as he closed his scroll.
If Hollyberry remembered correctly he was reading about the three princess's alliances and how they were formed. That sort of information was arguably more important than whatever Golden Cheese was reading, probably something to do with the late Queen Oasis's riches. The yellow SkyWing loved anything that glistened as long as it didn't outshine her scales in the sun.
"Hey Cacao, toss me the scroll you were just reading." Hollyberry asked when she noticed the NightWing was definitely finished with the scroll he had read.
Dark Cacao threw the scroll over to her without a word. She caught it with ease, thankful for her quick reflexes. Kestrel had always told her that for a MudWing she certainly moved quickly, Hollyberry had never really understood what that implied but she was thankful for the compliment (if it was one). She carefully unrolled the scroll and began to read. I take back everything about this being more important than Oasis's riches, she thought, it's about as interesting as a rock. Then an amazing thought hit her, they could act out the late Queen Oasis's death! It'd be more fun than all of the scrolls in the cave combined.
"Hey guys, I had an amazing idea!" Hollyberry announced, arising and dropping the scroll onto the cold stone floor, "We should act out the start of the SandWing Succession War."
"Now that sounds like a better idea than this boring stuff." Golden Cheese said, dropping the scroll with as much enthusiasm as she could muster.
Pure Vanilla chuckled, "Alright. Who's going to be who?"
"I dibs Burn!" Golden Cheese called out almost instantly, beating Hollyberry to the role.
"Awww man." Hollyberry whined, wishing that she had tried to speak up just a moment earlier. Whenever they acted anything out Golden Cheese always bet her to the role she wanted most.
"I'd like to be Blister, if that's alright." White Lily spoke up, her white and green scales shifting into sandy yellows and browns. Hollyberry was always fascinated with RainWings scales, they were so beautiful.
"It would make sense if I were Queen Oasis." Pure Vanilla said, sitting patiently. As the only SandWing there it did make sense if he played the late Queen of his actual tribe despite his gender.
"That leaves you to be Blaze." Hollyberry grinned, flicking her tail in Dark Cacao's direction.
Dark Cacao sighed in defeat as the other four dragonets laughed. The poor NightWing was always left with the worst roles, and it would be a lie if Hollyberry said she didn't make sure it'd be that way on purpose.
"What about you Hollyberry? You don't have a role yet and I think it'd be more... appropriate if you were Blaze." Dark Cacao stated, trying to find a way out of being the youngest sandwing princess.
"Hollyberry can be the scavenger that kills Oasis." White Lily said, a small smile emerging on her face, "Besides, I think you'd make a better princess Cacao."
