2. Morrowseer's Visit

The dragonets stood as still as statues as Morrowseer studied them, his eyes drifting between them as if he were searching for an imposter. When the large NightWing saw White Lily, a scowl formed on his face.

"And what is that meant to be?" He asked, tail flicking to side in anger.

"That's-" Webs began but was rudely cut off.

"I know what it is. What I want to know is why you let this creature live amongst the dragonets of destiny. In case you have forgotten there's meant to be a SeaWing, not some lazy fruit eater." Morrowseer growled, his gaze burning holes through White Lily, who averted her gaze in shame.

"Hey! Lily's not a creature, she's a dragon just like you and me!" Hollyberry called out, baring her teeth at the larger dragon.

"Yeah! Take this you ugly birdface!" Golden Cheese cried, lunging at Morrowseer at clawing at his underbelly.

Hollyberry soon found Dark Cacao and herself joining the golden SkyWing, scratching as any scales as she could. She knew she stood no chance against Morrowseer, and attacking the nightwing who delivered their prophecy was awfully rude, but then again so was insulting White Lily like that. She felt White Lily and the guardians's gazes on her. Why aren't they helping us? We could take him with just a few more dragons.

Morrowseer's face twisted into a mixed look of irritation and amusement. He threw his front legs forwards, sending Golden Cheese catapulting towards White Lily, who moved out of the way just in time. The large nightwing then shook his upper body, which loosened Dark Cacao and Hollyberry's grips and also sent them catapulting towards White Lily, who was unable to move out of the way this time.

"That's enou- ouch!" Morrowseer spoke, interrupted with a sudden sharp pain in his tail.

He twisted around to see Pure Vanilla, his teeth sunk deep into the large nightwing's tail. Pure Vanilla shot Morrowseer a glare before detaching himself and rejoining his fellow Dragonets of Destiny. Hollyberry felt a sense of pride emerge in her chest. Pure Vanilla had never been one for violence but he would defend his friends in a heartbeat. Now the MudWing was curious as to why White Lily hadn't come to their aid, but the thought was quickly dismissed as Morrowseer spoke again.

"The SandWing, MudWing and NightWing are fine. The SkyWing... we'll see. As for the RainWing., we'll talk about her later. Now Cacao." The large nightwing's eyes met with the Dark Cacao's, who was surprised that he knew his name, "I assume you have used your Nightwing powers to discover that I am going to have a private conversation with you? Come along." And with that Morrowseer left the room, Dark Cacao following dutifully behind him.

"What the hell was that about!" Golden Cheese complained when they returned to their main room in the cave.

"Poor Cacao." Pure Vanilla sighed, gliding onto a ledge and curling up, "I wonder what they're talking about now..."

"Who knows." Hollyberry sighed, calming down for a moment only to regain her fighting spirit seconds later, "And to think he had the nerve to insult White Lily!"

"It's alright." White Lily spoke up, unnervingly calm for someone who was just repetitively insulted, "The prophecy called for a SeaWing, not a lazy RainWing."

"You're not a lazy RainWing, Lily." Pure Vanilla reassured, "You're one of the kindest dragons I know."

"Yeah!" Golden Cheese agreed, "So don't get all mopey about what some turd snorter says."

White Lily giggled, "Okay."

Hollyberry smiled, slumping down onto the stone ledge she was sitting on. Lots of thought crossed her mind, each of them darting around like fish out of water. As soon as one thought arrived, another one was already pushing it out of the way. Hollyberry shook her head and took a few deep breaths. It seemed the deep breaths helped calm her racing heart and mind. Then the day's earlier events actually hit her.

Morrowseer, the nightwing who had delivered prophecy they were destined to fulfil, had arrived and they had attacked him! Now she understood why White Lily hadn't aided them, because their attacks were completely unnecessary. Sure Morrowseer did insult her and Hollyberry wouldn't stand for that, but their reckless behaviour didn't even make an impact on Morrowseer's attitude. Quietly, although not quietly enough, Dark Cacao slipped into the room, his head hung low.

"Cacao! How was it? What did Morrowseer say?" Golden Cheese questioned a little too loudly.

"I'm not supposed to talk about it." Dark Cacao said, brooding even more than usual.

"Did he say anything about Lily?" Hollyberry asked

Dark Cacao sighed, "Yeah. He said that she needed to be 'dealt with'."

"Dealt with? As in..." Pure Vanilla trailed off, uncertainty lingering in his voice.

"Surely not. The guardians would never hurt Lily!" Hollyberry tried to reassure, but the other four dragons looked very uncertain, "Would they?"

Surely not, Hollyberry thought, she's one of us even if they don't like it. But what if they do? What can we do about it? We have to stop them.

"They would do anything for the prophecy." Dark Cacao told her, his purple eyes full of determination, "Which means we have to escape, it's the only way to ensure Lily's survival."

"No." White Lily spoke up, "I won't have you guys get in trouble for me."

"Nonsense!" Golden Cheese grinned, "We've all wanted to escape this place at some point in our lives. We're not just doing this for you, we're doing it for all of us."

"But how would we do it?" Hollyberry thought aloud, "The only exit is through the boulder with the keyhole, and Dune has the key."

"We could ambush Dune and steal the key!" Golden Cheese suggested, causing the other dragonets to chuckle.

Ambushing Dune was obviously out of the question, so how would they escape? Hollyberry tried to rack her brain for an answer. Surely if Kestrel, Webs and Hvitur could come in without a key then they could too. But how would they get around to the outside to open the boulder?

"The boulder must open from the outside without a key." Pure Vanilla said, practically reading the MudWing's mind.

"Hollyberry could swim through the river." White Lily suggested, her serene eyes glistening in the  torchlight, "There must be an exit at the end of it or how else would the water come in? If Hollyberry could swim out and open the boulder from the outside, then we could escape."

That did sound like a fairly reasonable plan, but there was a few problems?

"What about Lily? What if they come for her whilst I'm in the river? And what if the river goes really far away and I can't find you guys?" She questioned, a bit nervous for what was to come.

"We could make a smoke signal for you through the sky hole once the sun comes up, you'll just have to survive until then." Dark Cacao suggested, and the other dragonets nodded.

"I'll be fine." White Lily said, and her scales slowly began changing colour to match her surroundings, "The guardians don't know I can do this. I guess it's a good thing that we never studied rainwings after all."

And with that White Lily seemingly vanished in thin air, and Hollyberry made her way over to the river. The cold water welcomed her with its icy touch as she slowly descended into the water. She really didn't want to do this. But she had to be strong for her friends. If she focused on them she could do it, she just knew it.

"Be safe." Pure Vanilla called out, as Hollyberry readied herself for the freezing embrace of the water in her face.

"You too guys, don't do anything stupid without me." The MudWing joked, glancing at her friends fondly one more time.

"How can we, you're taking all the stupid with you." Golden Cheese grinned, her golden scales glowing dimly in the scarce lighting.

"Don't panic or you'll run out of air quicker." Dark Cacao warned her, his tail sweeping anxiously behind him.

Golden Cheese yawned, "Now go you idiot, before we all end out dead."

Hollyberry took a deep breath, perhaps the deepest breath she had ever taken, and plunged into the deepest darkness imaginable.
