"Fellow dragons! Loyal SkyWings! Visiting MudWings! Honoured SandWing guests! We have a full slate of thrilling games today!" The skywing announcer called out.
"But first, let me welcome our guest of honour, Queen Burn of the SandWings!" Scarlet's voice could be heard from all around the arena, even in the arena where Hollyberry stood.
She was chained to the ground of the arena, as were Dark Cacao and Pure Vanilla. They were waiting for Golden Cheese's turn in the arena, that much she knew. Why they were also in the arena was a mystery to her.
Burn looked over at White Lily, who was as pretty as ever, "A RainWing pet? This is a frivolous kingdom."
"Careful what you say to your allies." Queen Scarlet hissed.
"First we have a so-called dragonet of destiny." The announcer went on, "Can she fulfill the prophecy? Let's see if she can survive the arena first! I give you, Golden Cheese of the SkyWings!"
Hollyberry watched as her friend was dragged out into the arena, hissing and snarling the whole way. She almost felt bad for whoever her opponent would be, after all she knew that Golden Cheese would prevail.
"And next up we have a certain SeaWing you might remember from a couple of months ago that refused to fight. How do you punish a SeaWing?"
The crowd called out all sorts of horrible methods. Drowning, limb amputation and torture were some of the milder responses.
"Take away their water, all their water, for months." Queen Scarlet called out, and the crowd cheered at the response.
The announcer didn't stop talking, "Dehydrated, mentally unstable and ready to fight at last, it's Gill of the SeaWings! Claws up! Teeth ready! Fight!"
Hollyberry watched as Gill lunged at Golden Cheese, his razor sharp claws barely missing the SkyWing, who leapt out of the way just in time. As she leapt over him, he whizzed around and sunk his claws into her underbelly, earning a sharp his from Golden Cheese.
"He's fast." Dark Cacao commented.
"So is Cheese." Pure Vanilla replied.
Golden Cheese kicked him in the face, propelling herself off of him, and leapt at him with all her might. They both tumbled over each other for a moment before the SkyWing came out on top, pinning Gill down. Hollyberry could tell she was contemplating what to do to the dragon below her. It didn't help that the crowd had begun yelling gruesome murder methods again too. Hollyberry wondered if they had anything better to do with their lives.
"Aww, does our dragonet of destiny not have a stomach for violence?" Scarlet cooed mockingly.
A loud snap came from Golden Cheese's direction, indicating the death of Gill. The crowd cheered wildly, and Hollyberry couldn't help but be a little envious of the positive reaction. No one was thrilled when she won against Fjord. The MudWing saw Burn mutter something to Scarlet, and the the SkyWing Queen spoke up again.
"Now it's time for my hatching day gift from me! The rarest of all dragon tribes, a real live NightWing! Let's see if the dragonets of destiny will fight against each other! I give you Golden Cheese of the SkyWings against Dark Cacao of the NightWings! Claws up! Teeth ready! Fight!"
Golden Cheese and Dark Cacao approached each other, moving slowly. Once they reached each other, they didn't claw each other's throats out or burn each other to a crisp, instead they hugged. Surprisingly, the crowd cheered happily, commenting about how sweet it was for once.
"This keeps getting worse and worse." Burn commented.
Queen Scarlet sighed, "You're right, this isn't nearly as thrilling as I hoped it would be. Guards, bring in the IceWings!" The guards did as they were commanded, and four IceWings were dragged into the arena. Hollyberry noticed Hvitur, their IceWing guardian, was among them, "Five IceWing prisoners have been left in cells for days with one thing on their mind, death! I'm sure this will be no problem for the dragonets of destiny though. Claws up! Teeth rea-" The SkyWing Queen cut herself off as the sound of hundreds of wingbeats echoed overhead.
Hollyberry looked up and saw dragons with scales the colour of the night sky. NightWings! At the front of the group was a large nightwing she had hoped to never see again, but now couldn't be more glad to see him. It was Morrowseer. Hello! Can you hear my thoughts? It's us, the dragonets of destiny. You have to help us! Please!
"That nightwing dragonet is ours." Morrowseer spoke, his voice deep and booming.
"Ours who? We found him with the Talons of Peace" Queen Scarlett hissed.
"Have the NightWings picked a side? Are you siding with traitors." Burn growled
"No. We have come to take the dragonet and leave." Morrowseer stated.
Queen Scarlet grinned sinisterly, "And what if I say no?"
"Do not anger the NightWings, sky dragon." Morrowseer warned, and made his way over to Dark Cacao.
What about us? Hollyberry thought desperately. You can read minds, so read mine now! Take us with you!
"That's not fair!" The SkyWing Queen cried out like a young dragonet, "It's my hatching day and I want to see a NightWing kill those stupid IceWings!"
Morrowseer looked unamused, and pointed at the, "Those IceWings?" The Queen did not react and Morrowseer took that as a yes presumably, "Kill them."
Like the first drop of rain on a cloudy day, the NightWings swiftly swooped down and slit the IceWings throats. Hollyberry could do nothing but watch as Hvitur fell lifelessly to the floor just like Dune had all those days ago. Morrowseer took flight, scooping up Dark Cacao in his talons.
"Wait, what about my friends?!" Dark Cacao called out as the NightWings flew further and further away until they were out of sight.
Where are they taking him?! Hollyberry thought, hoping her friend was okay. Once she was free she vowed to find him, although part of her knew that the NightWings would not be followed. They would return him if they wished to, all she could do was stay strong for him.
"I will have one thing go right in my hatching day! Guards, fetch my champion!" Queen Scarlet called out, and moments later the guards reappeared with Pitaya, "My champion has chosen to fight on behalf of Kestrel, a prisoner, against an opponent of my choosing. If he wins, Kestrel will go free. And if he loses, I'll have to find myself a new champion. I know what you may be thinking, my champion has gone undefeated for many years with his fiery scales. But it just so happens to be that there is a dragon amongst us that has fireproof scales. Isn't that thrilling~"
