Five months ago:

Sam was hellbent on killing Lilith and when he had found out that she was in town, he was ready to have his revenge.

He got his duffel bag ready, packing in everything that he would need, but Ruby was hellbent on keeping him at the house.

"You're not ready yet." She said.

"It's now or never." Sam replied.

"No, we got to wait until you get it right." The demoness stated firmly. "You haven't been successful."

"Alright, I'll use this." The hunter said and grabbed the knife, only for Ruby to stop him.

"Stop." She said. "You can't just fly in there reckless, Sam. We need you to take the bitch out."

"Oh, I'll take her out alright." He smirked.

"You get one shot, and you're it. You're the only one who can do it, Sam. So, if she kills you first.." She trailed off slowly and narrowed her eyes slightly at him. "I know whats going on."

"What?" He asked.

"You don't want to survive this." She stated. "It's a kamikaze attack. You want to die fighting Lilith."

"That's stupid." Sam replied with a scoff, taking the knife into his possession before he walked over to the door.

Ruby quickly rushed after him and blocked his path, stepping in between the hunter and the door.

"No, its the truth, because if you kill her and you survive this, then you have to go on without your brother!" She exclaimed. "This isn't what Dean would've wanted. This isn't what he died for."

"Get out of my way." He said through gritted teeth.

"No, Sam. This is suicide!" She yelled.

All of a sudden, Sam grabbed her and pinned her against the wall, placing the knife against her throat.

Ruby released a gasp and stood still, waiting for his next move. However, after a few seconds of nothing but intense staring, Sam opened the door and left her behind.

Sam slowly approached the front door to the house that Lilith was staying in, and quietly inched his way inside as he gripped the knife tight in his hand

Sam slowly approached the front door to the house that Lilith was staying in, and quietly inched his way inside as he gripped the knife tight in his hand.

The house was quiet, making him more aware of his surroundings.

He soon found a little girl, sitting at the table with her back turned to him but as soon as she heard him, she quickly turned around with fear written all over her face.

"Please, I want to go home." She cried.

Suddenly, Sam was attacked by two demons, who seemed to have come out of nowhere. Punches were thrown from different directions and Sam soon lost his grip on the knife as he was pinned against the wall by one of the demons.

"Lilith sends her regrets." The demon growled, tightening his grip on Sam's throat. "She couldnt make it."

Ruby entered the house and grabbed hold of her knife before she sliced the second demon's neck, killing both it and the vessel.

The demon that had Sam pinned against the wall, turned to face the demoness, letting go of the hunter completely. This gave Sam the chance to get the little girl to safety.

Scooping the child up into his arms, he ran outside and set her down before he watched her run to her own house in tears.

Knowing that the child was now safe, Sam ran back inside to help Ruby, only to find her pinned against the wall by her throat. Clenching his jaw, he threw his hand out, focusing on the demon until finally black smoke began to pour out of its mouth and nose.

Blood trickled down his nose and pounded in his head, but the hunter persisted. He pushed, forcing himself through the pain as he continued the exorcism.

Soon enough, the vessel had dropped to the floor with a loud thud, freeing Ruby, who coughed as air rushed back into her lungs.

Getting control over her breathing, the demoness looked over at the hunter. "Sam."

"I'm okay." He replied. "Thanks."

Present (2008):

"Ruby came back for me." Sam said. "Whatever you have to say, she saved me. More than that, she got through to me. What she said to me.. It's what you wouldve said. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here."

Before Dean or the girls could respond, a knock sounded at the door.

"Housekeeping!"

"Not now!" Dean exclaimed.

"Sir, Ive got clean towels." The woman persisted.

The eldest hunter released a groan as he got up and opened the door, only to find a maid standing there. "Couldn't you just leave em at the door?" He asked.

Ignoring him, the maid made her way inside and walked up to Sam, handing him a piece of paper. "I'm at this address." She said.

"I'm sorry, what?" Sam asked, genuinely confused.

"Go now. Go through the bathroom window, don't stop, don't take your car, don't pass go." The maid instructed. "There are demons in the hallway and in the parking lot."

"Ruby?" The tall hunter questioned, narrowing his eyes slightly.

The maid sighed. "Okay, yes, so I'm possessing this maid for a hot minute." She responded. "Sue me."

"What about--"

"Coma girl?" The demoness asked, cutting the shaggy haired male off in mid-sentence. "Slowly rotting on the floor at the cabin with Anna, so I've got to hurry back. See you when you get there. Go!"

And with that, black smoke left the vessel.

"I think he meant Anna, but whatever." Madelyn added with a shrug.
