Chapter 3: The First Mission

Asta, Noelle, and Y/N were eating with the other Black Bulls in the dining hall. Y/N quietly finished eating as Asta was being berated for not knowing what the Magic Knights did. Asta said, "Wow. Magic Knights are amazing. Oh, Y/N, can you show more of your magic? It looked so cool before." Y/N looked at him, "Okay. I guess. Celestial Magic: Open, gate of the crab, Cancer." 

Cancer said, "What hair cut do you want?" Asta had stars in his eyes, "Whoa! That's so cool! And he can cut hair? No wonder your hair looks so good." Cancer chuckled, "Thanks." Y/N let out a sigh and closed the gate. sending Cancer back. He then went to his own room and changed into the new clothes that Virgo had brought him. 

Later that day, Y/N was called to meet the captain. He was joined by Asta and Noelle and later, Captain Yami and Magna came. The three of them were surprised to see the men in nothing but their underwear. Captain Yami sat down and glared at them, "Hey, I've got a mission for the three of you." He then proceeded to tell them that they were going to Saussy village to get rid of some wild boars at the request of an old man who Yami and Magna lost to in gambling. Y/N frowned, 'These two are such idiots.' Asta asked, "Question, why do we have to do this?" Noelle agreed, "Yeah, how is this our problem?" Magna yelled, "What, do expect Captain Yami to take responsibility for his own actions?" Asta and Noelle thought, 'Uh, yeah.' Yami stood up, "What, you don't want to? Then you wanna die?!" Asta and Noelle accepted the mission. Y/N sighed, "You should have accepted in the first place. If the Captain went, he'd probably cause more damage than the boars." Yami glared at him, "You going to repeat that?" Y/N turned and walked away. 

After making some preparations, the four of them were ready. Magna had to take Asta and Noelle on his broom, which he called Crazy Cyclone. Y/N rode on his broom beside him. 

Asta chased after the boars that they had been sent to get rid of. Y/N sighed as he sat beside Noelle and Magna. He had tried to help by summoning Taurus to get rid of the boars, but the spirit made some perverted comments towards Noelle, so he was sent back. When Noelle had tried to help, she just ended up hitting Asta while he was chasing some of the boars. Once Asta finished defeating the last of the boars, the four of them headed down to the village. Magna started talking about how he knew the old man they were sent by from a young age. Y/N tuned him out as he felt some strange magic in the village ahead. It wasn't any sort of magic that a commoner should have been able to use. It made him worry. As they arrived, they saw that the entire village was covered in a sort of mist. Y/N hummed to himself, 'I see. So that was what I sensed before. This mist was made by magic, so there's probably some powerful mage attacking the village. This isn't good.' Magna said, "Asta use your sword to get rid of the mist." Asta laughed at him, "Silly. A sword can't cut through mist." Magna yelled, "The mist was made by magic and your sword can negate magic." Asta realized what he met, "Oh, right." He took out his sword from his grimoire and cut through the mist. As it began to disperse, they saw that the villagers were all gathered in the center of the village with enemy mages in front of them. One of the mages was preparing to use ice magic to attack the villagers. Magna quickly reacted and used his flame magic in order to destroy the ice attack. The four Magic Knights ran to where the villagers were, preparing to face off against the enemy mages.
