Ember's POV

I'm not sure if I should be worried or anything, but my red Ender eye is gone. I wanted to ask the others if they seen it, but I was afraid that they would be mad at me because I hid something from them.

It has not been a good day for me, first I threw up for three hours because I ate some rotten flesh. Okay, I admit it, that was pretty stupid.

And now the red Ender eye was gone.

I had remembered seeing it glow for five seconds and then fade away, but I never took it out.

Maybe it disappeared on it's own. Maybe it thought that I didn't need it anymore.

Part of me was glad because it made is sound like I was more responsible, but I was also going to miss that red Ender eye.

"You're still not that responsible." SeaWing said, before vanishing.

"Haha, very funny," I muttered.

I watched as Stella was telling Moon how to focus on her threads and how to make them strong and last longer. The thing is, Moon was the only person Stella knew that could do this attack, so I wasn't sure how Stella even knew how to help Moon in the first place.

Moon had saved me once, using those magic threads to hold Irifash back as I escaped, which I was eternally thankful for. I was also glad that Moon was alive and well, and that we were finally reunited.

Moon sometimes called me an idiot, but unlike Rain and Stella, who I both think are sometimes too serious, said it as an affectionate joke.

I had assumed the spider attack was enough to leave anybody shocked and shaken, believe me, I still have nightmares about it, but Rain had told me that things could be worse.

To be fair, I understood Rain, he had lived in more tragedies than the rest of us. I still didn't understand Stella though, she always seemed a little strange around me, somewhat fearful, somewhat angry. Which I don't understand why she would act that way. I mean, it's not my fault she's a Netherkin, which are very savage creatures. It's not my fault that I don't trust her, after all, she could attack any of us whenever she wanted. In fact, I try to stay far away from her at night so she wouldn't get me first.

Rain had returned her humanity and the End Dancer had also cured her, before the three of us had met.

"I'm going to gouge out your eyeballs, little boy!"

But she was still a Netherkin.

I don't trust you, Netherkin, I thought, glaring at Stella. Try all you want, but in the end, you're just like the rest of your kind, just a bunch of savage creatures.

Ember's distrust in Stella will play a big part much later.

Why do you think Ember hates Stella, and seems to be having these minor flashbacks?
