Death's kiss came to me on a starry night. It's soft, warm embrace left my heart thundering and my hands trembling. In my mind I knew what this sweet brush of lips meant. I did not care. I did not care that the light that is so valuable was leaving me. I did not care that darkness was seeping into every pore of my body. Because death's kiss came to from from a beautiful creature that enchanted my soul. When I saw the change, my glowing hair turning dark, it did not frighten me, not the way it did her. No, instead my first thought was that we looked similar, and that brought a smile to my face.

"Not so soon.." was her whisper, her fingers trembling as they reached out to the lock of hair.

"So soon? As in you knew this would happen?" She did not answer. Her hand collapsed by her side and she looked away from me. Anxiously I reached out, hating when her eyes were on anything besides me.

"Don't," was her quiet order making me stop midway

"Why?" I whispered back, hating this defeated look on this powerful beauty.

"Don't you understand," her voice angry, she looks me dead in the eye freezing my blood, "why do I need you? What is your purpose?" She steps closer to me, a venomous snake coiling, "the light! The light inside you is departing. And we haven't even begun.."she pokes my chest her nails sharp even through clothing, "and what use will I have for you when it is gone?" She hisses, her face so close to mine. The anger pulsing around us, I could catch a glimpse of the shadows crying out.

The silence that follows her wake is deafening. I have no words. Nothing that can calm this monster that is scraping to be released. Never have I seen her this angry. Not even when she sauntered off to battle did her eye blaze like they do right now. Still, I felt no anger, no betrayal for keeping yet another secret from me. No, happiness still made its bed inside my mind.

"Everything," she whispered, "everything is wrong," she looked almost sad as she analyzed me, her hand coming to stoke my face, the movement too soft, "everything is moving much too fast. So fast that I will not be able to put an end to this...this.." a lost for words yet again, as she holds the secrets to the future. I knew when she did this now. I knew when she was not letting me in. A far away look crossed her porcelain face and her dark eyes became soft, sad. As if the future she saw, the one she was racing towards, was something that brought her pain.

I caught her hand and pressed it to my face, the warmth of it making me close my eyes, "So, we will just have to move along with it." Turning my head to the side I kiss her palm, opening my eyes I smile against it, loving the way her absorbing pools swirled at the feeling my lips.

"Yes," she sighs, her shoulders rolling back into their strict posture, "yes we will. Abaddon?" She calls to the air. Like a flash the crow like man appears by her side. Her eyes never leave me as she says her next words, "do your worst," her hand slips from mine as a smile begins to play on her lips. She turns and walks toward the fortress my eyes refusing to leave her figure before a catastrophic blow to the side of my head leave my vision pulse. I swing my head to look at the attacker, my second mistake, as a blow to my nose leaves blood spewing down my face. I raise my fist on instinct.

"What the fuck?" I yell, I didn't get an answer as another hit comes to my face. That's when I realized Abaddon had been going easy on me. All those sparring matches, all those mind control tactics were never his full strength. Now when I felt his claws against my soul it was no longer a brush. He was no longer trying the break my walls. No he was trying to disintegrate them, to set them ablaze so that there was no evidence of their existence. The claws burned as they torn at my mind. So much so, that I let my physical walls down, eating the punches that rained down on my face. Each blow was faster, was stronger, until I could feel nothing at all.

"You must learn," I could hear him yell behind my darkening world, "you must win." His hits never stopped as my world turned black.

My only thought was that I must win.

For her.
