The dark wind whips through my hair and my legs stride forward. I was running, the freeing feeling was beautiful. No destination, no purpose just pure adrenaline as my lungs never cease and my limbs never weaken. I closed my eyes loving the feeling of cool air on my face.
And then my feet are swung from beneath my feet. I crash to the ground with a hard thud. My head making contact with the mossy ground roughly. My eyes shoot open to look at my ankles only to see chains tightly bounded against my skin.
How could I not feel the weight as I ran?
The weight was immense. Now that I seen if it's all I could feel. I could no longer move. I could no longer feel the wind.
"You could break them," her sweet voice whispers from the shadows, "I could give you the key." She reaches out, a beautiful white key shines in her hand. I reach for it, already thirsting for the wind. As I reach I see it, the chain's other half against her wrist. I halt middle air.
"I could give you it," she whispers yet again, her voice laced with sadness, "you could run, you could feel once again. Please, Zia. Run," I inch closer no longer looking at the key. Her eyes, no longer dull or doll like, shined without any light.
Closer, just a little closer. Her sad smile. Why did it feel more real, more heartbreaking? Blue, her eyes were the most striking blue. Brighter than the sky deep than the ocean, her eyes so blue shined with tears that glistened against her cheeks.
"Zia, please. You must run," I wanted to see her smile. No, I wanted to see it all. Happiness, anger, and love I wanted to watch as they flashed against her softened features. I could live the rest of my life only gaze at her face.
"Zia!" My eyes snap to the key, then to her wrist that matched my ankle, then to her aquamarine eyes.
"No, why would I ever leave you?" I whisper my hands brushing against her wrist. The cool metal relieving, lightly my finger tips brush against her soft cool skin. Following the blush that coats her skin i soft lay my palm against her cheek, loving the way she leans into it.
"You have to, Zia. You have to leave me," my fingers grow wet from the crystals that leave her eyes. I lean forward kissing her lids. I close my eyes my tongue reaching out tasting salt.
"I will never leave you," I promise.
"Are you sure?" Her cold voice replies, making my head snap back to stare at the black orbs that have consumed the blue waters. Underneath my finger tips the once cool skin grows hot. Making my snatch my hand back.
I stare at the person in front of me. The Lyith I knew was once again there. Her beady smile left no feeling of warmth or comfort.
Grabbing the chain with both hands she makes my legs move forward, stumbling into her.
"You said you'd never leave," she smile wider, the cool air raising my hair, "so why are you running?" She whispers her teeth scraping against my neck and before I could move her teeth clamp down. The too sharp of canines ripping through my skin. The pain so menace it locks my body down leaving me limp inside her arms.
"That's a good boy," she whispers licking her lips, my blood the only color against this lifeless creature, "Stay, and never leave" my eyes begin the close and right before I pass out I hear her sweet voice.
"I have the key, I'll give it to you."
I swing up from a laying position. Kicking the damp sheets off my my body I run to the window. Looking into the reflection I turn my head to where she bit but only the dull ache of a memory remains.
A dream? Was that really all a dream?
My hand comes the rub roughly against my grimy face. No, my mind could never make that up.
That wasn't a dream. That was a warning.
And I was going to listen to it.
Lyith. No matter how far gone she was there was a time that she was real. That she was soft and that she was alive.
And maybe, just maybe. I can find the key to bring her back to life.
I laid back in bed. My brain wrapping around the information I was given.
If this didn't work. If I can't bring her back...I must run..I have to..
The rest of the night I couldn't help but think of ocean eyes.
