"Do I have a choice," I mutter, with a sigh. I straightening into a fighting stance and unsheathing my dagger, "when do we stop?"
Her eyes crinkle into what I believe would be a smile, "Me and you? Never." She whispers.
I lunge, looking for an opening in her too causal standing and she? She's gone... like a light breeze she leaves no evidence of her existence and yet I know she's here.
The darkness welcomes her while leaving me out on its doorstep. Vulnerable to any attack. I search looking to every corner of this small room. I hear her chuckle from behind. I spin but it's too late and I'm tackled to the ground.
"Tsk tsk. Even I had higher hopes for you. My..employer will be so sad," her voice i can hear the excitement in it. Quick like a whip she knocks an elbow into my jaw sending my whole world flying. Blood flows into my mouth. I struggle, fighting to not be swallowed by the dark specks. I clumsily swing my dagger with my unrestrained hand. She springs off dancing away with an all too happy laugh.
"Hmm..maybe I do like this look too," she ponders, "so you are the one? How disappointing" her hip popped, her hand stoking her covered chin. My pride aches at her words.I have never been beaten. Going up in a shabby town meant a fight and even when I was young and my skills were new I did not fall. But I never have had proper training, not like the one in front of me. I can tell by the way her steps make no sound, by the way she dances in the darkness. She's been trained and she's been a killer her whole life. A chill runs down my spine. Realization hitting me much too late.
I will not win.
With that i jump to my feet.
But I will not die without a fight.
"What are you?" I ask as we circle each other. Her black orbs twinkling.
"Now that is a question!" She exclaims, "but first let me ask," she takes a step closer, making me tighten my grip on my dagger, "who are you?" She questions, but not in a way that makes me think she's asking for my name. No, this question seems personal, deeper than just a few words. I freeze my mind drawing a blank.
Who am I?
A swift kick knocks the wind out of my chest, I gasp staring at the crinkled eyed woman.
"Your eyes," her voice almost angry ,"your eyes, your mind, your soul should only be focused on me." I stop breathing, HER eyes, they are much too serious, too unwavering to simply be a joke.
"Do I...do we know each other?" I ask, my mind captivated by darkness. She chuckles, an empty chilling chuckle.
"I know you," she exclaims before crouching down and swinging her leg, I try to jump but my legs are gone and I am once again on my back. My hands try to catch my fall only to result in an aching wrist.
"But you don't know me," she states standing over top of me. Her stance much fiercer than a minute ago. She turns walking away and I see my opening. Focusing i throw my dagger through the air at the back of her head. She turns, her hand snatching it right before her left cheek and sends it back flying at my head. I quickly roll away.
I look up eyes wide on the floor. Her mask is hanging off one side. Blood trickling down from porclein skin. My heart stops as a white chilling smile invades my world.
"Congratulations...you've won the wager," the dark angel proclaims before a thundering kick to the head sends my world black.
