Rigo's POV
"Old sport! So glad you could make it," I wrapped my arm around Griffin's shoulders as he walked up to me at the party, a lady by his side. "Rigo! I've only been here for ten minutes and I'm enjoying myself more than I ever have," A goofy grin spread across Ethan's face and I could tell that in those ten minutes he had had a few drinks.
"Who's your friend?" I asked him, looking behind the girl in hopes of seeing Y/N walk up.
"This is Jordan. She's a friend of Y/N and David's," He looked at Jordan and I automatically knew he had a crush on her.
"And where's the lovely couple?" I swallowed after speaking the words, my mouth running dry.
"Y/N is too ill to make it. She sends her sincerest apologies," Griffin turned back towards me after gawking at Jordan. I looked at Jordan, and the way she avoided my eyes told me she knew that wasn't true. I bit my lip lightly,
"Hm. Jordan, can I speak to you for a moment?" I gestured inside, letting go of Griffin to stuff my hands in my pockets. I turned around and walked inside of my house and towards the library, not bothering to look behind me and make sure she was following. I entered my library and heard the door shut behind me.
"You know something", I spoke lowly, turning around slowly to face her.
"She's too scared to come and to see you," Jordan whispered.
I nodded, the hurt evident in my face. "I need you to do me a favor," I sighed.
"I need you to ask Griffin to do something for me, I've been asking him myself too many favors lately."
Jordan was stiff with her movements, too timid to say no to me so instead she nodded.
"Can you get Griffin to invite her to lunch tomorrow?"
I drummed my fingers on the desk behind me.
"That's it?" Jordan squeaked out. I nodded,
"Just get him to invite her to lunch. That's all."
Jordan hesitated before nodding and turning around to leave the room. I let out a sigh relief as she closed the door behind her, stress flooding my body as I thought of seeing the woman I love again after five years of being apart
Griffin's POV
"He wants me to do what?" I asked Jordan. We were currently on the phone, the morning after the party.
"He wants you to invite Y/N to lunch at your house this afternoon," She repeated the request.
"Why would he want Y/N over for lunch?" I asked as I looked out my window, my neighbor no where to be found.
"Look, Griffin, there's some stuff you don't understand and some stuff that I can't tell you. It's best if you do as he asks-"
"I won't invite her over until I know why he wants me to," I snapped. I heard shuffling on the other side of the phone before a door closed and Jordan started whispering.
"He loves her," She said in a hushed tone.
"What? They don't know each other-"
"They did, Griffin. They fell in love with each other five years ago. He left for war so she ran off with David," Jordan explained.
"But she's my best friend. She would've told me," I said. Jordan sighed,
"She knew that her parents wouldn't accept him because he wasn't rich, so they decided to keep their relationship a secret. I didn't really believe it either until I remembered a while back when I was going through Y/N's stuff in search of her missing pearls that David had gotten her only to find this box. I knew it was wrong to look through it, but I did it anyways. There were love letters in the box, Griffin. I thought they were from David, but they were signed with an 'R.'"
I took in the new information before sighing. Was it right to bring my oldest and dearest friend who's in a relationship to meet with a man she used to love?
"Fine, I'll call her immediately." We exchanged goodbyes before I rung Y/N's home, asking the butler for her.
"Griffin! How is my oldest friend?" "I'm great, Y/N. I was wondering if you wanted to come by for lunch this afternoon."
"Of course! I'll tell David immediately-"
"No, don't tell David. Just by yourself," I interrupted her. She sighed and I could hear her smile from over the phone.
"Are you in love with me, Griffin? Is that why you want me all alone?" I could imagine her now, twisting the phone cord around her finger like a teenager.
