You can't have a good story without a little conflict. A rising villain creating friction for the hero, an argument between siblings, the loss of a friend. With bringing characters to life you must also have real things happen to them.
Everyone's heard a happy ending before, where the hero defeats the villain, family makes up and forgives one another, and somehow through a miracle a person comes back to life.
But I'm tired of that.
You see, in the first days I tried to play the loving Father, the generous author, making everything just right. But it still wasn't enough for them. Adam and Eve defied me, and shortly after I realized how the story had to change. How it could be made better.
So I had to push Michael to slay Gabriel, and frame Lucifer for the whole thing. Sending her to an eternity of damnation wasn't easy, but drama and angst sells. Yet her face that night, that look of betrayal, it was almost too much for me.
Then of course I had to create plagues and disease, whisper in the ears of suggestible humans, hand out heaps of chaos, and the real fun began.
But don't get me wrong. I am not a bad father. I do care for my children, and all my creations. I also care about my work, all that I've set out to do, to create the perfect story.
In doing so I may have taken it a bit far. Lucifer doesn't see my reasons, nor will she forgive me. But I'm God. I've got time.
Speaking of, I better wake from this nap. Maybe there's still a chance to get my perfect story and earn my children's respect.
It's tough to be a God.
