"You were gone for hours! You need to stop disappearing like this, Lucifer." Niklaus scolds me in the living room.

His words don't stick as I carry on, trying to explain the situation.

"Carl has Stefan, Niklaus," I cross my arms, "We need to get him back, and we don't have a lot of time to do so."

He runs a hand through his hair and sighs heavily. His eyes soften when he looks at me this time, offering up a smile.

Niklaus takes a step closer, "You give so much of yourself away, I'm afraid I might not have much of you for myself."

I open my mouth for a second but close it, not knowing what to say in the moment. We don't have the time to think about us, sadly. Stefan is depending on us to save him. I made a promise to Damon, and I don't intend to break it.

"Every time you leave, I think this might be the time you don't come back. And you do, but I still fear for the day I can no longer hold my love." His face is fragile, and I bring a hand to hold his cheek.

He leans into it with a smile, a stray tear falling. I wipe it with my thumb and smile back at him. Leaning in slowly, I kiss his lips. Then his nose and his cheek. I want him to know that I love him with all my being. I want him to know that I will always come back to him. And I let him hold me, so he knows the day he can no longer have me in his arms is far from now.

"We need a plan," Kol breaks up our moment.

I pull away, reminded of the time going by. Like they say, we don't have time for romance. We all sit down, thinking of ways to get Stefan.

"So, what do we know about this witch?" Bekah inquires.

"Tara Blackwood. She's fairly powerful, and sweet, but dangerous if you're on her bad side. I've seen her take down five vampires at once, all about a hundred years old. Her weakness's? Uh, not much that I know of. I suppose if you messed with someone she cared about, so family and friends," I stare off as I list what I know.

"So what you're saying is we have nothing to use against her since all her relatives and friends would be dead by now," Kol sighs into his seat.

I quickly glance his way, giving him a sharp look.

"Uh, hello?" I point to myself, "You're looking right at one of her friends. Though I suppose she might be a tad bit angry with me," I say the last bit quietly.

Elijah eyes me suspiciously, "What did you do?"

Damn, I forgot I am in a room full of vampires and a hybrid who have impeccable hearing. I should really think more before I say things. Shifting uncomfortably in my spot, I prepare to tell them what happened.

"Peter's not my only ex. I dated her sister briefly, and then broke her heart. The details aren't really important though, we need to focus on finding Stefan." I clear my throat, wanting to move along.

Thankfully Elijah nods, not pressing the matter any further. Kol on the other hand doesn't mind asking some more questions about my past love life.

"How did you break her heart? Did you cheat on her?" His eyes don't leave me, like a child engrossed by the television.

I groan and roll my eyes.

"I broke up with her alright? Are you happy? I'm immortal, she wasn't, and too many people were trying to hurt her because of me. End of story," I say angrily. The past isn't always something I want to talk about, and especially not now.
