Your P.o.V

The radio plays 'Can You Get To That' by Funkadelic's softly throughout Spinners. I watch quietly as Trevor cleans the disgusting vent. "Hey man, can I ask you something?" He hums and Lucky walks over before I say anything.

"Yum." Lucky kneels down by the door to look at what he's doing.

"Has this ever been cleaned before?" Oh hun we all know it hasn't.

"Not by me. We're heading up the mountain." Lucky gestures for me to follow as she stands up. Trevor looks up, sad to see me go with her. "You coming?" Faster than I've ever seen him move, he chucks his work stuff off and we all leave together.

Time Skip

In the back of the truck, I sit in between Trevor and one of the other guys. Music plays as we speed to the mountain.

I once had a life Or rather, life had me
I was one among many
Or at least I seemed to be

The drive is always long, but this time it's more fun. Trevor looks around, smiling at the view. The others laugh at his reaction, I can't help but admire the way he looks. He's not normally very happy but seeing him having fun outside of working on the car makes me realise just how adorable he is. "It's nice up here isn't it?" We smile at each other and I put my arm over his shoulders. The boys laugh and start whooping at us, I just flip them off and laugh. "I'm comfortable and he's warm."

Well, I read An old quotation
In a book just yesterday
Said, "Gonna reap Just what you sow
The debts you make You have to pay"

We soon make it to the top of the mountain. Everyone jumps out of the truck and I wait to get out last. Looking over the side, Trevor sticks his arm out for me. I hold his forearm to steady myself as I jump out. Letting go him go, I pat his shoulder, "Thanks dirt boy." He glares at me before lightly shoving me and laughing. We walk over to Lucky, who's getting on the rusty elevator. I push Trevor forward so he can sit on it with her. He goes to sit next to her, so I sit down near the cogs. I may or may listen to their conversation, he's a sweet boy and as much as I trust Lucky, I don't want him to get heartbroken.

He sighs and shifts nervously, "why'd you bring me up here?"

"Entertainment value. Can you juggle?" He laughs and they look at each other. You can feel the heart eyes from Trevor, I've said it before and I'll say it again, poor kid. Suddenly a gunshot rings through the air making us jump. The twerps with the gun laugh and I hear dirt boy chuckle anxiously. One of the boys tell the others it wasn't funny, and I lean back against the metal.

"What are you doing here in Summerville anyway?"

"Honestly, my mom won't say it, but we're broke. We got evicted, and the only thing that's left in our name is this creepy, old farmhouse our grandfather left us in the middle of nowhere." They both pause for a moment before he continues. "No offense."

"I'm not offended. This place is a dump." She shrugs. My co-worker Grace walks over and sits next to me.

"I know we don't really talk much, but if you like him then you gotta be brave and go for it." She puts a hand on my shoulder. I look up at her confused. "Trevor. I kinda guessed you like him because you spend a lot of time together, and you aren't that comfortable with new people." Wait what? Does anybody else think this?

"I, uh, I don't like him that way, but thank you for your concern. Does anyone else seem to think this or?" Grace nods, then asks if I'm sure. "I met him less than a week ago ok, plus he likes Lucky so-"

The cage Trevor and Lucky are sat in shakes. "What the hell? Get out." They jump up and I rush over to them. A low rumbling seems to come from the bottom of the pit. Out of the corner of my eye I see Trevor reach his hand out towards me. I hold it and stand closer to him.

"What is that?" We lean over to see inside the pit.

"I don't know." Glowing orange smoke slowly rises, and everyone looks over at us.

"Gozer..." A deep voice says. Now I don't know what everyone else was thinking, but I almost shit myself. Some kind of dog/reptile/demon face appears in the smoke. I hold onto Trevor tighter and pull us away from the glowing death pit. The elevator stops shaking and the group gets closer. Without any warning, a big orange thing shoots into the sky, screaming.

"What. The. Fuck. Was. That?" I breathe heavily, trying to get some oxygen into my lungs. The others start laughing, but Lucky and I just look at each other, terrified. I realise that I'm holding onto Trevor so I let my grip loosen, my face heats up slightly after remembering what Grace said. Maybe it's the shock or the angle, but it looks like Trevor's cheeks go a little pink. Soon we all decide to leave, because this place doesn't exactly seem safe right now.

The car ride back is quieter than the ride here, at least for me it is. I lean against Trevor and he puts an arm around me, clearly able to tell I'm shaken up by the demon thing. He leans closer so only I can hear him, "what did you want to ask me back at Spinners?" I shrug and tell him I forgot. I definitely didn't but we can't talk about it with so many people around, especially Lucky.

The cars arrive back at Spinners and everyone gets out. No one really says anything as people leave to get home. Only Trevor and I are left and we can see his mom in the car down the road. "Tomorrow, if you're not busy, could I come over to help you with the Cadillac? It's fine if not but I was just-"

"Yeah, I'll text you. Can I, uh, get your number? So I can text you about the car," I pass my phone over to him and he types in his number and texts himself. I quickly change his contact name to 'Dirt Boy 🚐' and put my phone away just as his mom arrives. "I'll see you tomorrow (Y/n), tell me if anything happens," I nod as he gets in the car. His mom waves at me so I smile and wave back.

After a couple minutes my dad pulls up. I get in the car and he asks if I'm ok. "It's been a long day," he nods and lets me get some rest. God, I can't wait to get some sleep.
