Your P.o.V
Around 11am, I got a text from Trevor saying to come over to help fix the car. He also promised to get me some lunch if I get there soon. The promise of free food immediately meant that I would get there as fast as possible. After convincing my dad to drop me off within twenty minutes, I got to his house and now I'm knocking on the door. Callie opens the door and looks at me confused. "Uh, I'm here to fix a car with Trevor, i-if that's ok with you?" She nods and lets me into the house. While I wait for Trevor to come down, I make small talk with Callie.
Eventually Trevor comes downstairs in the overalls, with another in his hands. He throws it at me and I say bye to his mom as we leave for the barn. "Did you ever remember what you were gonna ask me?" This damn boy really wants to know doesn't he. I nod slowly and he gestures for me to tell him.
"I find it sweet, really I do, but would you actually do all the shitty jobs if Lucky didn't ask? Like I get it you like her, just is it worth the teasing and crappy pay?" It's clear he wasn't expecting that but then again, I wasn't either. His cheeks go red and he sputters for a minute, trying to find the right words. "I'm not complaining, I love working with you, it's way more fun than I have with the others. I just wanted to know how you felt about it." Crap I really didn't think this through.
Trevor rubs his neck and somehow gets his words out. "I-I mean at first yeah, but I don't really know if I like her anymore. Also working with you makes it more worth it..." This kid is really cute. As to not ruin the sentimental moment, I wrap my arms around his torso. Yeah, I'm quite affectionate so he'll have to get used to this. Gently, he puts his arms around my shoulders and lets out a shaky breathe.
I pat his back and we let go. "Come on kid, we can have a sentimental moment later, right now we need to fix the Cadillac."
Time Skip
I stand next to the boy as he uses the socket wrench in the engine. I don't think I've even seen what the rest of the car looks like, we've been in front of it for so long. We've spent hours now trying to get the car to start and if it doesn't happen soon, we'll have to give up. He lets out a breathe before standing up and getting into the drivers seat. I quickly get into the passenger seat next to him and wait for him to start the car. "Okay." The ignition clicks but nothing happens. "Ugh, come on!" I hold my breathe as the car fails to start. "Come on, you can do this." I lean foreword in my seat and almost pray for the car to work. He tries to start again but the engine just sputters. Trevor sighs again and closes eyes.
"Come on, darling." Oh shit. I wasn't expecting him to say that. Why was that attractive? At this rate, I might start to believe what Grace was saying. The ignition clicks, the engine sputters and then the car actually starts! Finally! "Yes!" I jump in my seat and Trevor hit his hands on the wheel. Whether it was the force of our movements or some kind of supernatural force, the car bonnet slams closed. We go quiet for a second and look at each other. I ask what he's waiting for and he smirks at me. Oh fuck.
"You do have your licence right?" He ignores me and looks over the field. "Trevor, you can drive, can't you?" His hand reaches for the radio, turning it up. And this is the day I die. 'Boredom' by Buzzcocks plays and I pray that we don't crash. Dirt boy takes off and speeds into the field. He whoops and hollers, hitting the dashboard as he drives. I hold on to his arm for dear life, but a laugh escapes. Trevor drifts and turns, smiling at me . "I hope you know that this is crazy!" he lets out a loud laugh and drifts again. We continue foreword, until I see the field ending and us heading straight for it. "Oh crap... Hey Trev, I think we should slow down!"
"Shit!" Trevor notices too late and we fly over the hill. We crash land on a road and come to a stop in front of two kids. Dirt and dust flies around them and Trevor tells me to open the window. "Hey," how can this guy be so casual after that.
"Hey. This is Podcast. He... He's my friend." The young girl points to the boy next to her. Judging by the fact she has the same dark curly hair and Trevor knows her, I believe this is his sister, Phoebe.
"You have a friend?" I smack his arm for being rude. He looks offended and looks back at the pair.
"You have a car? And a girlfriend?"
"Yeah, it's a Cadillac. And no she's not my girlfriend."
"Hey, dude. We need a ride. Do you know how to drive?" Oh this poor kid has no idea what we just went through.
"He doesn't." The girl and I say at the same time. "He failed his driver's test three times." I almost get whiplash from how fast I look at Trevor. He shrugs and smiles after I hit him over the head.
"Get in the back." Oh god, please don't let anything like that again.
