Chapter six.

I was getting ready for my meeting with Mr. Conner. I dressed up casually and looked presentable. A little bit of make up will do. I took a one last look in the mirror before going out of my apartment building since Bella was waiting for me outside.

A red Mini Cooper honked in a distance when I got outside. It was her signaling me to go inside the car already.

"So? You ready for that contract signing?" she asked. "Errr" I said and I just gave her a face. She sighed and said, "Let's just go already miss 5SOS girlfriend." and she started to drive while I just rolled my eyes at her joke.

'miss 5SOS girlfriend'? Am I really ready to be labeled that?

After a few minutes of driving, we finally reached the said address that Mr. Conner texted. "I'm just gonna stay here. You go up there and do your thing." Bella said to me. "Good luck, Rae!" she then continued. "Thanks Bel." and I smiled at her before entering the building. It was a tall one and quite new. I proceeded to the reception in the lobby. A woman who looked like at her late 20s was the one there.

"May I help you?" she directed. "I have an appointment with Mr. Richard Conner. He told me to come here at this time so." I informed the woman. "Mr. Conner's office is in the ninth floor, first door to the right." she instructed. I thanked her and proceeded to the elevator. I did as instructed and I am now in front of his office. I had deep breaths before knocking. "Come in!" a voice from inside approached. I entered his office looking around and at him. "Ah, Miss Byrne. I was expecting you. Please take a seat." he pointed to the chair in front of his desk. I just faked a smile and sat down like what he told me. He then pulled a folder underneath his desk which I assume was the contract. He laid the papers on the desk for me to see.

"So this is your contract. It is said there that you are going to work for us for six months and that's just the minimum. You cannot back out during that six months but after that, we could possibly not need you anymore and you'll have the right to resign or back out and finish your contract. However, if you still wanted to work for us, you can stay up to a year. Just a year and the contract will be finished." Mr. Conner said giving me the information about the contract.

"It is also very confidential. No one must know any of this business especially the band's fanbase and the media. It will ruin them so please do not tell anyone." he followed. "Yes, I will." I said assuring him although Bella knew all of this.

"Six months? but I need to go back to school after this break so how's that possible?" I asked him. Of course our summer vacation will only last two and a half months so I'll have to go back to school. How am I suppose to work if I have school on going?

"Don't worry about it, Miss Byrne. You can continue your school of course while working for us. You just have to go out with him and be seen by the public, that's all. It depends on your availability." he explained. It's a good thing that it depends on my availability so I won't be pressured at both things.

A minimum of six months? I could do it, right?

"Does he know about this already?" I asked referring to Ashton. "Of course he does. He knew it before you did." he informed.

"What are the things I - I mean we need to do?" I questioned. "First, you have to be seen together in public then there will be a reaction from the media and the publicists will write articles about you two and of course, the band's name will be included. They would make it a worldwide gossip until they get an interview with the band and of course, Irwin will confirm it and people would consider it true because of this confirmation." I just sat there quietly as he explained.

"Public Display of Affection would make it believable. Make sure its convincing. That's the major thing you two will do. Now I know it may be hard because you never met but a job is a job. You just have to do well." He continued and I nodded at his words.

I read the terms and condition and it was clear to me. I understood it very well incase I missed something and might be a problem in the future.

He handed me a pen and I took it. My hand was shaking as the pen approached the paper. My heart was pounding off my chest. This is it. There's no turning back now. Its for your own good, Rae just sign it. Mr. Conner was just staring at me as he waits for me to sign the paper.

And I finally signed it.

He took the papers and kept it in his drawer. I stayed silent in my seat waiting for him to say anything.

"Thank you, Miss Byrne. On behalf of our company, we do appreciate your effort." he told me.

"When will I start working?" I questioned really wanting to know. "You'll be meeting the band very soon. I say tomorrow? They are currently on tour in Adelaide. I'll get someone to pick you up at your house to bring you to them. I'll be there as well." he apprized.

"What will I face in this job? Like the consequences and stuff." Ugh I can't stop asking questions because of my curiosity. "Well, attention is the first one. And by 'attention' I mean unwanted ones." "Like what?" "Like being sent hate on the social media by their fans. It depends really. Some may have a positive reaction and some might not so just be aware of it. People will constantly get to know the business between the two of you. Then your popularity will highly increase which you'll get used to by the time." he answered.

Being sent hate? I don't like the sound of that but its part of my job so I'll have to suffer it.

"Hm.." I mumbled. "I think I should go now. Thank you, Mr. Conner." I said to end our meeting since I got all the information I need.

"Thank you, Miss Byrne. Just remember the things I told you and you'll be fine." he said. "I will." I stated before leaving his office.

When I got to the lobby, I saw Bella waiting for me. She spotted me so she approached me.

"How did it go?" she asked out of curiosity. "Let's just talk about it in the car." I announced and we headed to her car.

"Its confidential but what the heck! You're my best friend of course I'll give you the details." I started telling her. "So he said that we should be seen together in public so that the media will react about it and then soon, Ashton will confirm it to them that we're 'in a relationship' and we have to do 'PDA' so that people will be convinced and I have to suffer the consequences." I reluctantly explained to her.

"Wow... so thats the master plan... I have to admit they are genius." she praised. "Thats what money can do." I said.

I may not fully like this job but I'll do it whole-heartedly because I'm doing this for myself and my mother.

"Oh and by the way, I'll go to freaking Adelaide tomorrow to meet the band and start my job!" I informed her. "Adelaide?! What the hell! That's so far from here!" Bella exclaimed. "I know right? They're currently on tour right now here in Australia so I have to go there."

I can finally tell that my life unexpectedly became interesting...

Btw, this is just a fiction. Just incase you think its "unrealistic". I thought this story would be interesting since I never read this type of story (but thats just me) soooo....
