Nothing but silence swooped over the two women. There seemed to be nothing left in their faces from the very start of the day. Blank expressions, emotionless body languages, and very little to no spoken dialogue was shared between them.
"I love you," one would say to the other before they left the premises. It didn't even feel like a heart felt saying. The other one would either smile lightly or nod their head just to show the other their sign of acknowledgment.
It was as if something was dying between them.
As night fell, the young captain of the Crux Fleet walked out towards the balcony of the tall building she was in. It was the same tall building that was over seeing the rest of Liyue Harbor; Chihu Rock was almost down under her chin, and she was able to see Yuehai Pavilion to her right.
The balcony of the building was lined with dark, oakwood fences. She began to lift herself up over the fence and sit on top of the fence. She kept both of her hands by her sides so she was able to support herself sitting on the fences.
Beidou looked up towards the sky and noticed that the moon seemed to be looking down at her. She felt an emotion deep down, and she was already at the point of breaking down under this cold, empty night. Yet, when she looked back up to the moon, there was a feeling of peace resonating within her.
"What am I doing wrong?" she asked into the night with her voice as quiet as the birds. "What can I do?"
With one of her arms, Beidou began to softly hug herself with it. She was used to this feeling of having to always comfort herself during her bad days. She's always known to the people of Liyue Harbor as the glorious Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean, the Slayer of Haishan, and many other names. Yet, they never see her express any negative emotion whatsoever, not even her beloved crew aboard the Alcor. Whenever they are out voyaging, there was always an understanding trope seeping from her as she talks and commands her crewmates.
She wished she could stop comforting herself like this. Beidou knows and believes that whatever the hell she had been through during all of her early life would never be brought up to anyone else ever, but tonight it became so tiring for her.
She took one glance over her shoulder to find Ningguang still clutching her silk sheets on their bed. Ningguang looked peaceful in their bed somehow; her white hair flowing out graciously like water from a river, her pale skin glowing under the dimly lit bedroom.
Beidou went back to facing towards the night and began to tightly hug herself using both of her arms this time. She carefully balanced herself on the balcony railing.
She wished her mom was with her. Beidou doesn't even remember who she is. Abandoned and lonely is what happened to her.
She wished her dada was with her. Beidou doesn't even remember who he is. Though, she does remember a faint voice from her memory. It was a deep voice telling her to stop being such a rambunctious little scrap.
She wished Ningguang was with her. Beidou obviously knows who she is. The Tianquan of the Lady Qixing. But before she was the Tianquan, and before Beidou was a captain, Ningguang was her close friend. Ningguang was a caring young woman once who had snarky comebacks and a soft, yet witty personality. She was always Beidou's "equal opposite", as some of their old and former friends would describe them. She wasn't the physical type like Beidou is deep down, but she loved talking to her. Ningguang had always found ways with her words, and it was something that Beidou finds both fascinating and annoying.
"Why did we become so distant these past couple months?" Beidou suddenly blurted out as a result from her reminiscing of their shared memories together.
