I hear his laugh.
I see the ends of his smile,
That seem to go from ear to ear.
He looks so bright today.
He's glowing.
I get lost in my thoughts.
His voice snaps me out of my dreams.
"Can I have your pen? Please?"
He asks.
God his voice is so soft.
"Hmmm… No."
I say with a smirk.
He looks at me.
My stomach slowly ties itself into knots.
I feel those dreaded butterflies,
Threatening to fly up and out my throat.
I try not to show my queasiness.
How does one boy make me feel so… nervous?
"Well can I trade you for it?"
He finally questioned.
"Well what would you trade me for it? Hm?"
I say with another smirk,
This time my voice a little shaky.
He looks down under his desk.
He grabs his backpack and searches.
He eventually gets out two black pens.
"So uh.. why do you want it anyways?"
I say,
Hoping for a good answer.
"Because it's cool and blue."
He says with a smile.
"O-oh. C-cool."
I can feel my cheeks burn.
The rest of class he kept trying to make trades for the stupid pen.
I kept denying them.
By the end of the class,
We were rolling with laughter.
"Y-you wanted to trade two-"
I was cut off by a sudden burst of laughter from myself.
I was so happy.
"Two erasers taped to each other? Named Soomba? Seriously?"
My smile was so wide.
He burst out laughing.
"Yes! Also two lollipops."
He added proudly.
I shook my head,
Laughing as I did.
I unscrewed my pen and handed him the blue ink cartridge.
"Here, just take it. I don't want anything in return."
I say,
Smiling at him.
I tossed it on his desk.
He took it and gave me his black ink cartridge.
"No no I told you I don't need anything in return!"
I said politely, attempting to return it.
Suddenly,
The bell rang.
"Well, looks like you need to keep it."
He said as he ran out the classroom door.
"Uh- HEY! GET BACK HERE!"
I saw him laughing as he walked through the halls.
God he's going to be the death of me.
I love it.
