In front of me were boxes, packed and unpacked. The apartment was smaller than the one I lived in NY. Now I was in LA, starting my life away from those painful memories.

Lisa's determination was what brought me here and I was desperate to take any wayout from the hellhole back in NY. Lisa, herself moved with me as her parents lived here. She was there just for her job and she was just so excited to be leaving NY with me, to be back with her family. She even got me this apartment which was under her name.

"Why do have an apartment under your name Li. Can you enlighten me again, please."

"Ri, this is what I bought with my savings from part-time jobs during college. I used to stay here independently."

"But why?"

"Ok fine. You need to know a few things about me. My family is very influential and I never wanted to grow under the shadow of their name. So I wanted to live alone and then when I was capable enough I moved out. That's why I was in working in NY."

"And now you have to leave that behind because of me. I'm sorry. I..."

"Hey, it's not like that. I wanted to be back long ago but never got an excuse to. But now I had and I did what I thought would be good for us both. So don't feel guilty for anything."

"Alright. But we need to find jobs soon."

"Taken care of it already Rian. Get ready tomorrow morning
We are having an interview at 10."

"Ok. But where?"

"PARK CORPS. And we can't be late. We..."

"LISA !! Is that...?"

"Yes Rian. I know it's my family's, but I don't have any options. My father asked me to work for him and I couldn't deny him anymore. He already knew about your condition so he asked me to bring you along. I'm sorry if you think I'm interfering a lot. I know..."

"Thank you Li."

"Huh?"

"Thank you so much Li. Thank you for everything. I appreciate it. I'll go."

"Don't thank me yet. You just got an interview because of me but not the job. My dad is strict. Everything depends on how well the interview goes."

"I know Li and I'll do my best."

"Good. Now go to sleep. I'll pick you up tomorrow. Bye Ri."

"Ok. Bye Li."

The door slammed shut after lisa left me alone with my own thoughts. Just two day ago, I was a bubbly person and today I was an empty shell of a person. What has my life become?
