Diana was quick to contact Stacey straight away about meeting up with her and her friends.
'It'll be fun, trust me!'
'I do trust you Diana, but I've just moved here'.
Diana rolled her eyes, 'don't go cold turkey now, the girls and boys can't wait to see you!' She grabbed Stacey by the arm and pulled her across a street. Stacey noticed a group of people outside a cafe.
Please don't tell me that's her friends...
Stacey wanted to get to know people, but not all at once, oh well, you've gotten yourself into this mess, you may as well roll with it, she stood awkwardly next to Diana who did all the talking.
'This Stacey! She moved here only yesterday!'
One of the girls chuckled, her hair was pure red and her skin was littered with freckles, 'you're already on her like a fly to food Diana, did you at least give Stacey some time to breathe?'
Exactly!
Diana poked her tongue out, 'I'm Claire by the way, the lady with the red hair introduced herself, 'this here is Daniel, my partner', the young man lifted a glass towards Stacey, 'lovely to meet you Stacey'.
Claire kept talking, 'this is Millie', another young woman smiled at Stacey, 'it's great to meet you, let me guess? Diana got you a cake?'Stacey laughed, 'you know her for way too long by the sounds of it', this group wasn't bad at all, it was quite difficult back home, you had to try so hard, Stacey was luckily to even have one friend... Who's no longer her friend anymore.
So, Clair, Daniel, Diana, Millie?
Diana pointed out two other men, 'that's Harry and Sam', Harry was lanky and his dark hair shone, whilst the other, Sam wore a neat and tidy look... Just like John.
Claire, Daniel, Diana, Millie, Harry and Sam.
'So... What do you guys do?'
Stacey asked as she accepted one of the chairs pushed her way. Millie took a sip of her juice, 'we head to go clubbing, but that doesn't happen all the time, so don't worry if you're not the clubbing type'.
'I club every now and then, but I guess not as much as you guys'.
Harry shook his head, 'we do other things of course, like weekly catch ups at this cafe, or sometimes different ones depending on how we feel. We also go out on trips, we do a lot of things'.
Jesus, this is such a friends group.
'Did you talk to Mr. Wick yet?'
Stacey looked over at Diana who was staring straight at her. Even the others had turned all of their attention onto Stacey.
'Uh... Yeah, I guess?'
Sam laughed, 'what'd you mean you guess, you actually spoke to him? What'd speak about... If you don't mind me asking'.
Stacey shrugged, 'well... I was at the park and I accidently stepped on this little dogs foot and this guy had a go at me and-'.
Millie cut in, 'was his name Gary?' Stacey chuckled, 'wow, so he's made a name for himself?' She noticed how all of them rolled their eyes, 'I swear he has no friends, he's a complete asshole... So you stood on his dogs foot?'
Stacey nodded, 'and he yelled at me, and then Mr. Wick came up to us, he was defending me'.
All of them laughed, 'holy shit! He put Gary in his place for sure, no one can get angry with that neighbour of yours, he's too quiet and kind to get angry at, also he doesn't interact with a lot of people anyway'.
So he's the lonely type.
Stacey wondered if she could get him to open up, she was able to do it at the park. She smiled gently as she began to day dream.
