Third Person POV
Hoseok was restless.
You could see it in the way he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, when he turned his head to the side and threw sneaky glances at the back, at the way he released small sighs every now and then.
Jungkook knew he was the reason behind it, and he did feel guilty of making someone uncomfortable, but it wasn't like he could help it. The others were getting used to this just fine, except for one. Afriel tried to help, of course. She tried to make her friend laugh, make him loosen up, but he was still being the same cautious persona he had been when he first got to know of Jungkook.
From the way the rest of the boys were already rolling along with the idea of their dear friend having a personal bodyguard of sorts, Hoseok was still not having it. He was quite protective of Afriel too, seeming so much like her big brother to Jungkook. He had noticed how close they were, and he thought back to when he had first seen this man- when they were in the cafe.
He was a literal goofball back then, cracking jokes and making cute poses and now he seemed like a football with no air. All happy energy seeped out, and left with a serious, intimidating aura.
They were all going to this party Jimin had been talking about for days, and Jungkook decided to tag along because, well- he was assigned to be Afriel's guardian after all, the least he could do is do the job correctly. After the episode at her house earlier, she was quite skeptical in going to the party and also letting him come, but Jungkook brushed it off. I'll be fine. He kept repeating this over and over again, as much as to himself as he was telling her. He didn't quite know what to make of this- the person he was supposed to be looking after, doing the exact thing back to him. All he knew was he should do his job well and be capable of taking care of himself.
"Hobi hyung come on now, you're making everyone's mood sour. It's not like guardian angels aren't uncommon in our world, loads of people have an assigned one. You're just making a fuss, you know." Taehyung's voice floats from the back, where he was comfortably laying his head on Jimin's shoulder, whom everyone had assumed to be asleep. His tone was accusing, and Hoseok wasted no time in firing back.
"Well I wouldn't have been so cautious if it was a normal guardian. We've got a- a demon in this car with us for fuck's sake! I can't just sit here and not think about why Afriel's got such an unusual guardian. She might get hurt and I don't want that!"
Jungkook's eyes widen at the older's words, shocked at the rudeness in them, but still understanding where he was coming from.
He looked over at Afriel, who was sitting right beside him.
"Hobi how many times do I have to tell you he's a really shy boy who is also very polite? He's not going to do anything bad to me you don't need to worry about that! We don't even know why he's a demon for, to be honest, even if I know him for only a few days, I don't even think he did anything really wrong to have landed himself in hell."
