Chapter:11

Cato's POV:

I'm about to get the book for my next class out of my locker when i hear eden and who i assume is one of his friends talking to eachother in hushed voices,just about loud enough for me to make out what they're saying from were i was standing.

"So..You don't think that she's actually dating that Cato boy do you?"eden's voice asks from around the corner"Come on let's get real here,she has the body of a twelve year old boy,a pretty face is nothing compared to an attractive body,that's what all guys want and he's no different,they aren't dating..trust me,no one in their right mind would date someone like Clover..well except you."

Hearing them talk all this crap about Clove made me feel sick to my stomach,they had no right to talk about her like that..especially after what had happend the night before..i still can't believe that he did that to her.

In a fit of rage i punch my locker,leaving a dent in it as i do so,the commotion seems to bring both eden and his friend out of hiding,his friend doesn't stick around for long but Eden is the opposite.."You've probably heard what we were saying about your little girlfriend then i assume?That really is a shame.." "I want you to stay the hell away from her from now on,do you understand what I'm saying?" "I'm afriad that i can't make any promises.."

That's when i lost it.

Clover's POV:

school was back in swing again,the days turned from short and fun to long and boring really fast,im not quite sure why i was looking forward to this so much the only thing i look forward to now is seeing cato for twice as long as usual.

"Look Clover!"Hazel whisper-shouted to me,interupting my thoughts while pointing at the on going fight in the middle of the hallway,this wasn't exactly new to me after all fights happen all the time at our school,i only really started paying attention when i saw who was fighting who.."You know that guy you've started hanging out with recently?Well he's fighting with Eden and I've heard some people saying they're fighting over you!"

This isn't good,it isn't good at all,Hazel wasn't exactly my friend, she was just someone who i hung out with when i had the time,she was a nerdy girl but also a hopeless romantic,she adjusted her glasses and tucked her hair behind her ear before continuing"Oh how I'd love to have two boys fighting over me"but i was paying no attention to her,i was only paying attention to the fight between the two boys,cato was obviously at a higher advantage due to his height and size compared to Eden but Eden really wasn't all that good anyways.

As much as i hated eden with a burning passion i didn't want to watch him getting beaten to the pulp by cato,he was already bleeding quite abit already and his arms were practically all black and blue so i figured that the only thing left to do now was give him the scare of his life,thankfully since i had training straight after school i had packed afew extra knives in my bag,taking one out,i threw it in edens direction which ended up puncturing through his jacket and pinning him to the wall behind him,the crowd of people who had been surrounding the two of them scattered until it was just the three of us left in the hallway.

"You better be careful eden,i have alot more knives where that came from and if you don't watch yourself the next one will end up going straight through your neck..do you understand what I'm saying here or do you need a demonstration?"

After i said this he looked at me,obviously abit taken a back by what i just said."Clover I'm sorry about what happened yesterday,I really am..I shouldn't have done that shit." "And you're only realising that now?That took long enough." "Well.." "Oh save it then,there's no point..You can just leave him there,let a teacher find him."I say turning to Cato as he replies with a nod,as soon as we turn the corner i stop in my tracks,causing Cato to bump into me.

Cato's POV:

"What was that all about?"She asks,looking more serious then usual"I was just trying to protect you,you should've heard the types of things that they were saying about you Clove..I couldn't just let him get away with it." "I don't need protecting,I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself,thank you very much."She said,ignoring the last bit of what I said. "That's not what you said yesterday,you were practically helpless without me."

The second those words left my mouth i wanted nothing more then to be able to take them back.

"Clove..you know I didn't mean that." "Oh but you did didn't you?If you really didn't mean what you just said you wouldn't have said it at all,but you did..so you did mean it. "There's no need to be so overdramatic about the whole thing,let's just talk this out."I say trying to reason with her"There's nothing to talk out,You start viewing me as helpless and weak after i act the slightest bit vulnerable around you,so i won't allow myself to do that anymore..from now on the only time I'll talk to you is at the training center,when i absolutely have to..apart from that you'll stay out of my way,Understood?" "Clove please..think about what you're saying." "I already have."She replied,with little to no emotion in her voice..And with that she was off.

I try to follow after her but each time I do she manages to just brush me off to the point where it was getting frustrating"Oh come on Clove are you really just going to throw everything we had away because of this?"I ask her"Everything we had?"She repeats back to me"We had nothing,you're just delusional.."

Last night was nothing,The dinners were nothing,The hours I spent talking to her were nothing,Nothing to her anyways,They all ment something to me..Even if they ment nothing to her.

Clove confused me,That was my least favourite thing about her..That she was confusing..Ever since the first time I've met her up until now she'd always confused me.

I don't know what i felt for Clove but maybe us being too close wasn't such a good idea after all considering one or both of us may die in the games..but i couldn't help myself,the feelings I'd developed for Clove weren't just going to disappear and i knew that,i understood it but i couldn't accept it.

Not yet anyways.
