AN ; i feel like i should mention that Dave/Will is an absolute dork in this chapter :')
"You're being too loud, sorry." Vincent apologetically told his brother who had once again annoyed Scott by being incredibly loud at unholy hours of the night.
"Loud?! I'm not loud!" William crossed his arms and frowned at his sibling who just shrugged his shoulders. Vincent could very easily have answered his brothers stupid question but he didn't want to anger him any further.
"Will, it's just for tonight. He just wants to you sleep somewhere else." Vincent smiled, knowing fully that Scotty could easily kick his brother out completely but didn't on behalf of him. "You can be here tomorrow."
"Fine!" William shouted to purposely annoy Scott who was inside and still trying to sleep despite the disturbance that William was.
All William was wearing was his Pen Island hoodie and that was barley keeping him warm in this cold, his trousers doing the same but at least he was able to change into them instead of being kicked out in just his shorts and hoodie. Overall, this situation was less than ideal for the Brit who was slowly making his way to your home since it was the only house he actually knew the address to.
It had only be a couple of hours since he walked you home and he hoped that you wouldn't turn him away at your doorstep. God, that would be embarrassing for him.
The cold air of the night was harsh against the exposed skin of his neck and head, his ears turning red as the blood circulated there to try and keep them warm - the same with his cheeks and nose that were turning rosy against his pale flesh. The sky was primarily black at this time of night, occasionally there would be a scatter of white stars burning above but the night sky was quite empty for this night.
Your house was actually quite far from where the love bus was so the walk was actually quite inconvenient for William who was beginning to swear because of the bitter wind hitting him.
The length of the walk gave him more time to think, however. As he walked he thought back to the date the two of you just had, how he hated that he didn't take the opportunity to have you when he was actually William. Being Dave had its share of pros and cons but the main advantage of being William was that he was sure of your attraction to him. As Dave he was still sure of it, but it was towards William and not Dave. It could have changed, of course. He just wasn't sure of that or not.
When he reached the front door of your cheap home, he was hesitant to even knock. A sudden sense of dread and anxiety filling him as his fist lingered near the door before he eventually made his three crisp knocks. He stood there for a few moments, receiving no answer and the door not moving but he didn't want to insist with further knocking because you could be on your way to open the door. He stood there for a few more moments.
What if they're still asleep, he thought and bit his lip. It was a habit that had begun when he took on the identity of Dave, something that was now just as second nature as his fake accent. He went to knock again but the door opened and he stood their wide eyed.
"Dave?" You yawned and rubbed your eyes, his knocking having woken you up quickly because of how loud and clear it was. "What time is it?"
"No idea! Can I stay here for tonight?" He asked with a confident look in his eyes that...glowed, for some reason. The silver blue of his eyes was such a beautiful colour and they were even more beautiful in the dark with the ethereal glow they had, it was unnatural and made you even more interested in him.
You were both happy and horrified to see Dave at your front door, the dream you just had becoming a little more like a disturbing foreshadowing of Dave actually showing up in person soon. It was a nice dream, though, one with both Dave and William giving you attention in their own separate ways. You'd had similar dreams of just William before so this dream should be nothing but standard and normal to you. Except, now Dave was in them.
That was more than enough to force you to realised that you were actually falling for the blonde Texan.
"Of course." You opened the door wide enough so he could step in, only realising what he was wearing when he was inside. "I like the hoodie, you look good in it."
The warmth of your home was comforting to him so the blood had stopped directing itself to the cold areas of his body, like his ears, but the redness remained because of the blush that now adorned his features because of your comment. It was so small but it meant so much the to man and you head no idea.
"Thanks. Sorry about coming over at this time, I sort of got kicked out of my place for the night." He rubbed a hand through the blonde of his hair, scowling at the thought of how Scotty had so much control over his brother but he knew how much Vincent loved his partner.
"It's fine, honestly." You moved closer to the man and took his hand into yours as you began to walk him to your bedroom. "You can share my bed for tonight, I don't mind."
"S- share. Your bed?" He stuttered, suddenly feeling like a teenager again. "Are you sure?" He asked just as you sat under the covers of your bed and motioned for him to take the empty space beside you.
"Yes, I'm sure. Now get into bed, I want to sleep." You slid down so you were lying under the bedsheet whilst Dave awkwardly took off his shoes and trousers so he could get into the bed, relishing in the fact he was sleeping on a proper mattress for the first time in months. "Good night, Davey."
You smiled and turned off the light on your bedside table, finding it peaceful to be asleep to the man you were completely sure you were falling in love with. Even more so with how you felt his eyes staring right at you, sure, it was making it hard to sleep but it made you feel safe and protected under his gaze.
"Y/N?" He whispered a few minutes later. You hummed in response. "Can... can you hug me?" He mumbled but it was still loud enough that you could hear. He was afraid you'd laugh at him and go to sleep but instead he felt you shuffle close and wrap your arms around him, taking the role of the big spoon whilst he was the little spoon.
"Is that alright?" You asked as you felt him move to wrap his own arms around you, moving his head so it was against your chest and you could rest your own against the top of his. "Dave?"
"Perfect." He quietly said, voice muffled. "You're perfect." He said not a moment later and you felt your heart skip a beat, smiling widely as you gently tightened your hold of the man who was suddenly becoming so fragile and vulnerable with you.
You were unsure if it was because of how late at night it was or because he felt that he could allow himself to become this way around you. Both in each other's embrace and drifting into your own separate lands of sleep, thought the dreams you both had felt connected in some way because of the hold you had on each other.
When you fell asleep you could only hear his words echo in your mind. Perfect. You're perfect..
this ended up becoming a disgustingly fluffy comfort chapter written at unholy hours of the morning.
so take this as a reminder to take care of yourselves <3
