-no smut because im ace and uncomfyWhen he made it to your home the sky was pitch black, not a single star in the sky and the dark clouds looked over ominously with the threat of rain - possibly even more snow, if possible. The amount that Hurricane had received so far was almost baffling, which is why Dave longed for nothing more than to enter your home and be in your arms.
However, he wouldn't allow himself to do so until he learned which version of himself you loved more. If you loved William then he could easily be William, he only withheld the truth of who he was to protect himself. It was you feelings about his dishonesty that he would be worried about, you could betrayed and even feel like he was toying around with your emotions. But, surely, you wanted to have William Afton love you back, right? And he did, so what would be the huge issue?
If you had come to love Dave Miller more then so be it, he could easily continue to live in the fake identity of a blonde texan that shared so many qualities with the British man mentioned before. Even more doubt filled the man, you probably only liked Dave because of the similarities between him and William and that filled him with dread. He was so conflicted, unsure if anything was a good or bad outcome and he would only find out once he actually knocked on your door and asked the question that had been rattling through his brain for the past hour.
The door in front of him seemed so close and so far, everything making sense and not all at the same time as he tried to compose himself. He made his three crisp knocks, it was his favourite number for no particular reason other than he liked the number three. He wished he could say the same about you, he liked you for no particular reason other than he just liked you. That wasn't the case.
You were like coming home after playing in the snow all day, you were the fireplace that would be lit already by a caring parent to make sure the blood returned to your hands and ears and everywhere the blood stopped circulating to. Your warmth was comforting and needed for survival, like a fire you would build out in the wilderness to keep you alive in the freezing temperatures. In more personal terms, you felt like a blade he often kept in his pocket for protection whenever he felt threatened. To him it was an essential tool and provided him with comfort.
But a blade in his pocket could never compare to you and the comfort the knife gave him was nothing to the feelings he felt when wrapped in your embrace. When the door opened and he saw your face, he felt everything pause for a moment and he questioned whether what he was going to do was worth it or not. It could potentially ruin it all and it would be like the fire he desperately built to keep warm during a blizzard being snuffed out by the wind. Unable to be lit again and leaving him left in the cold to freeze, slowly and painfully.
"Davey!" You smiled and lunged yourself at him, arms around his waist and head in his chest as you took in the smell of the cologne he used. He was dressed in his work clothes unlike the other night where he came over in a hoodie, which surprisingly suited him more than his work clothes but he still looked incredibly good. "Where were you today?"
"Me and Philip got stuck in his car." He said, hesitant about how he should bring his question up in conversation with you. "Miss me?"
"Of course I did." You squeezed your grip around his waist before letting go. "I missed you more than I think I miss William." You chuckled and invited him inside.
The warmth of your home immediately had an effect on him, blood beginning to pump around his entire body again whilst his heart still kept a fast pace because of the brief hug you had given him. I missed you more than I think I miss William, the words you had said a moment before had answered most of the question he wanted to ask.
