Daimon's silent growl resonates in your head with perpetual intensity, matching the burning in Vazgan's eyes in its strength.
"No?", the demon asks, but the tone of his voice proves that it doesn't matter what you want.

"Come here", he calls for one of the humans. It's a young woman, maybe your age. She sways insecurely before she takes a slow step forward. Like a puppet moved by strings, she approaches the demon who looks at her with a smile that she can't see.
She stops, so abruptly that it seems like she's going to fall over, but then she steadies herself.
"Good", Vazgan says, beckoning her closer with his left hand. His voice is deep and hypnotic and his glowing red eyes never leave her face. "Just like that."

The woman bows down, just as he asked her to, but he stops her with a gentle finger placed under her chin for a second. "No need to", he softly says. "Just relax."
His lips open and for a split second, you can see something flicker in the woman's chest, like a tiny mass of light.

"Don't", you say hastily, fear suddenly spreading in your veins as your fingers dig into the armrests of your chair.
Vazgan stops in his tracks, but he doesn't move. He barely glances in your direction as he emits a questioning hum. Yoongi's voice resounds in your head, from the time he explained to you that ripping a soul from a body without touch causes excruciating pain.
"Touch her", you say, the demon within you restless at the whirlwind of emotion you're feeling. Daimon's head rests heavier on your leg as he tries to calm you down, tries to prevent a rage.
Your eyes burn, but the tears don't come. Your voice, however, breaks as if they do.
"Please touch them", you say, lips trembling as you stare at Vazgan, but you're addressing all of the Ayabbi. "Please don't do that to them."

Finally, Vazgan cocks his head to the side. "This much they did teach you?", he asks.
You want to force your lips to form a reply, but the words don't come out as you stare at the lifeless woman next to him, and Vazgan doesn't wait for an answer. He doesn't care for your request either. Instead, he turns back to the young human, making no effort to pull her into a kiss or anything of the sort.
"It'll only take a moment", he whispers, as if he has to calm down his prey, but she doesn't hear him. She stands there, sways, and patiently, readily waits for her death and the torture that inevitably comes with it.

Before the demon can take what he deems his, you're off your chair, over the table, and press one hand on the woman's chest where you saw the flicker earlier. It's an instinctual action that you can't fully explain, you only know that it feels right.
You sit on the table, fingers digging into the woman's chest, and slowly turn your head to look down at Vazgan with burning eyes. They sting as the red color intensifies and your pupils constrict to a fine, vertical slit.
"Leave her soul alone", you say. Your voice is deep and rough and dangerous and full of the knowledge that you're doing the right thing, despite the sweet scent that is rising between your fingers.
Vazgan's face distorts into a mask of fury. "How dare you", he hisses and the ground trembles under the weight of his rage.

"I say her soul is to go", you say calmly, letting go of the woman's chest because it feels safe now to do so.
"You will not touch her."
Dying to prove you wrong, Vazgan pulls the women towards him violently. His eyes glow deep red and his canines become a tad bit more prominent as he searches for the human's soul and attempts to rip it from her body...
And then he stops, and the ground cracks beneath his feet as another tremble runs through it.
In the corner of your eyes, you can see Jimin sit up on his bench.

"This woman has no soul", he growls.
Without knowing why, your lips curl into a triumphant smile as you return to your seat. The Ayabbi whips around to you. "What did you do", he hisses, his contours growing hazy as his power seeps from his body. The only things that remain clear are his huge, glowing red eyes. "What did you do!"
What did you do?, Daimon asks the same question as you sit down next to him. As soon as your body meets the cold, wooden surface of the chair, realization rolls through your body like an icy wave.
What did I do?

"I asked you what you did!", Vazgan roars, his demand shaking the castle to its very foundations. The other Ayabbi glance at you all the same, their expressions a mixture of surprise, confusion, anger and worry.
"I- I don't know", you reply. Daimon presses his head against your leg, but immediately flinches back.
Ow. What was that for?

You don't reply. You can't. Your body doesn't move, and another chill runs down your spine when you realize what that means.
Jazkar is bearing his teeth, staring at you intently. "I am sure there is a reasonable explanation for this", you hear a calm, gentle voice from your right.
Thirak.
And suddenly, all panic washes from your body and is replaced by calm. And through the haze of physical and emotional control, you realize that something went fundamentally wrong. Daimon's voice echoes through your head unintelligibly, accompanied by his deep growl, but he cannot help you without touch, and every time he touches you, he flinches back right after. You can feel his pain through your connection, like a sharp sting in his chest that he cannot bear even one second. You can also feel his desperation and his helplessness. You want to tell him that it's okay, but your mind is too fuzzy to form any coherent thoughts, let alone defend yourself against Jazkar's and Thirak's influence.

"We should rest", Thirak says next to you. Jazkar doesn't let go of your body, so you cannot look at him to find out what he's thinking. "It's been a long journey, after all."
Despite your senses being dulled, you can feel that the tremble in the ground hasn't yet subsided.
"Zoczi", you can hear Vazgan call, his voice barely under control and full of anger. You don't hear the female Ayabbi arriving, but at some point a slim, cool hand places itself over your eyes and you're in no state of mind to realize that you're walking into your third trap.
"Shhhh", Zoczi says.
Now I'll die, you think as your brain gives up to the unimaginable pressure of so many powers at once.
I won't allow it, Daimon growls as a reply, breaking through the barrier in your head one last time.

And then the world turns black. The last thing you see are golden eyes staring at you from across the room.
