It was nearing the end of summer, but Sweet Pea's birthday was also coming near. His birthday was August 24th, and Josie was going to throw him a party. Toni had insisted, but Josie said she was going to throw the party this time, reminding the brunette of the mess she had to clean.
As time came close, Toni was working out, trying to get herself into the mindset that was going to get her through the year. She started journaling a while ago, but started back up when everything happened.
She was working on trying to become a better person, and she was doing good for the most part. She was also trying to get a job. She didn't want to feel like she didn't have to earn anything.
She went job searching about a month before school started, and she got a job in retail. She didn't necessarily care the job, she just wanted to feel like she earned something in her life.

It's the day of the party and Toni got dressed in a black and blue shirt, blue jeans, and blue and white Jordan's. She didn't have a specific wanting for the outfit, but she ended up wearing blue.
She sprayed some perfume on her and left out of the house with Sweet Pea's gift in the backseat. She drove about 15 minutes before she arrived to Josie's house. When she got there, the only cars in the driveway was Josie's, Veronica's, and Kevin's truck.
She parked next to Veronica's car and entered the house. She was greeted with Veronica walking past the door eating a handful of chips. The tanned girl looked at her and shook her head with a soft chuckle.
"What?" Veronica asked, putting a chip in her mouth. Toni shook her head, walking into the kitchen seeing Wweet Pea there. "You're always being judgey. Get on my nerves," Veronica yelled out at her.
"Yeah. Yeah, Vee. You love me, though." Toni yelled back, getting a groan from the Latina before turning to her friend.
"Y'all only knew each other for 4 months, and you two act like siblings," Sweet Pea said, grabbing a drink from the fridge.
Toni rolled her eyes and leaned against the counter, her arms crossed over her chest. "That's her. She always starts with me," Toni said.
"Like just now?" Sweet Pea asked, raising an eyebrow knowing what Toni was about to say.
"Like just now. You already know this, Pea," Toni said, shaking her head and pulling out her phone. "So, who's going to be at the party?" Toni asked, looking up from her phone.
"I don't know, actually. Josie invited people, that's most likely gonna end up bringing people. But Cheryl and her brother, Jason, is a definite," Sweet Pea informed.
Toni looked up from her phone and started to zone out a but. Sweet Pea watched as she did so, too.
"You okay?" Sweet Pea asked, snapping Toni out of her daze.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine. Um, I'm hungry. You want something to eat?" Toni asked, turning her phone back on and scrolling.
"Toni," Sweet Pea called out. "Toni, look at me," He said when he didn't get an answer the first time.
"Yeah. What's up?" Toni asked, putting her phone into her back pocket.
"What is your deal? You're acting weird," Sweet Pea said to his best friend.
"Pea, I'm just fine," Toni said, trying to assure the taller boy.
Sweet Pea looked at her for a while longer before asking, "Are you having a good day or no?"
"C'mon, let's not do this today," Toni said with a small laugh, turning her head away from him.
"No, Toni. I'll be able to understand, so tell me if you're feeling down today," Sweet Pea argued.
