CH. 24

As soon as Jina, San's nanny, arrived I went as quickly as possible to Jin's house where I again requested an emergency meeting. After three years of not giving any sign of life Eunji simply sends me a letter requesting a meeting? Hell to the no! What could she possibly want? It’s not possible that she wants to appeal San's custody. As soon as she told me that she was pregnant she emphasized the fact that she never wanted to have children. So why now? Because everything was finally working out for me? Of course, things were too good to be true, I'm not that lucky. Life doesn't smile at me and offer me a cookie. It does this and then promptly creeps up on me, knocking me to the ground and taking my cookie away.

Entering Jin's house, my three friends stopped talking and turned to me. An awkward silence settled over the room and I sighed deeply before speaking.

“Eunji wants to meet me”

“Oh fuck” Jin cursed under his breath and stroked his forehead.

“That bitch” it was Jimin’s turn now, exposing my exact thought.

“Do you know what she wants?” Joon asked in a surprisingly calm voice.

“No” I threw myself on an armchair “We’re supposed to meet tonight but I ain’t going. If she wants to talk to me she can come to me, not the other way around” my leg was swinging nonstop as a result of my anxiety “Who the hell she thinks she is to send a lawyer to my place?”

“Ok, we have something to tell you” Jin spoke, earning my glance.

“What?”

“We kinda know what she has been doing during all those years”

“Wait, what? All of you?” I examined my friends' expressions, noticing guilt while they avoided my gaze “Why didn’t you tell me?” I felt betrayed “How could you hide something like that from me?”

“Before you storm out of the room you’re going to listen to us, ok?” Jin demanded and I crossed my arms over my chest, challenging him to start his story under my burning eyes “We discovered her whereabouts a year ago when we saw her on the news. Apparently she has been dating some idols and being a paparazzi target. At the beginning of the year her then boyfriend owned a recording studio and helped her produce an album which gained her even more popularity. If you search Lee Eunji's name you will see that she’s becoming well known in the music industry”

“We imagined that you’ll know about this” Jimin continued “But since you apparently live under a rock you never mentioned anything. So we decided to keep it that way. There was no reason to share that info with you. You were going through a hard time, rubbing her success in your face did not feel right”

“And remember yesterday when I said we should leave the restaurant because I saw my ex?” I nodded “It was actually her. I didn’t want you two to run into each other like that so I suggested we went to another place. Maybe she saw us either way, I’m not sure”

So they were just trying to protect me. I rubbed my eyes trying to organize my thoughts and my feelings.

“If she’s that popular now,” I replied with a small voice, eyes filling with tears “that means it’s easier for her to take him away from me, right?”

Sadness floods my chest at the thought that someone might try to take my baby away from me… and succeed.

Y/n’s POV

I hadn't heard from Jungkook all morning. He didn't show up at college, ignored all my messages and my call went straight to voicemail. I was starting to get worried. What if I had done something wrong? Had going to Tae's house instead of spending the afternoon with him hurt him? I don't think dropping by his house unannounced is a good idea. He will show up, of course. I just need to give him some time.
