Bex gasped. How had she missed this? She ran up the stairs, Dex running behind her. Right before she reached the door, though, reality caught up to her.
She stopped and turned around, and Dex crashed into her, almost knocking her over.
"I need you to go," she told him, and he seemed to look hurt for a second before he understood what she meant
"Okay. Tell me how it goes later?"
Bex paused. She was supposed to be mad at him, but she was done with the patterns.
"Sure," she said, surprising Dex and herself
After she reached the entrance to her room, she found her siblings standing up
"What happened?" they asked in union
"Mom said she would call Elwin, right?" Bex said, pausing to catch her breath
"Yeah?" Lex said slowly
"Then why isn't he here?"
The boy's eyes widened in alarm
Silently, they all ran to Rex's room to grab the imparter.
