Emiko took a seat next to the window. She tilted her head back and sighed. The seats were blue with white stripes and had a velvety texture. The soft cushions felt comfortable under her skin. "Hey there cutie," Ryu greeted her. "Mind if I sit here with you," he said with a wink.
"Um no thanks! Ren actually was hoping you would sit by him," she said, hoping Ren wouldn't object.
Luckily Ren, who was sitting in front of her, didn't say anything as Ryu took the seat to his right with a sulking expression.
"It'll be a while til we reach the US so why don't we take a nap?" Yoh suggested.
"Of course you'd be the one suggesting that," Horohoro commented. Yoh laughed embarrassed as he pulled his headphones over his ears. "I guess getting some sleep isn't the worst idea though," Horohoro said.
"Bason," Ren called, "wake me up in 10 hours."
"Yes Master Ren."
"Ha, real men should keep there eyes open at all times in case of danger," Ryu said confidently.
Ironically, after 10 minutes Ryu was snoring like a dog.
Yoh fell asleep shortly after followed by Horohoro and Ren. Although Emiko wanted to sleep as well, she didn't feel safe with Hao and his crew breathing down her neck. As she stared out the window her eyes started to open and close slowly and her head started to feel heavy. "Falling asleep so soon?" A voice asked from beside her. When she turned to see the source of the voice she came face to face with Hao. She let out a low groan and turned to face the window again. "What was that for?" he asked."Nothing, I just don't feel like seeing your face right now."
"Hm? And to think that I just wanted to say hi to a friend," he said dramatically.
"Really? I didn't know we were friends," she said with a small laugh.
"Hurtful," he commented.
"What do you want?" she asked seriously as she turned to meet his gaze.
Neither of them dared speak as they looked into each other's eyes. Hao was the first to remove his gaze as he spoke sincerely, "Emiko... I want you to join me."
He wanted her to join him? But why, there was no reason for him to want her to join him. "Why?" she asked. He didn't speak. "If you can give me two good reasons to join you then I'll consider it."
Emiko tore her gaze away from Hao and onto the back of Ren's seat. Although it was weird, she felt comfortable sitting next to him. It felt like she didn't have to worry about anything at all. Out of the corner of her eye, Emiko could see Hoa smirk to himself. "I'll hold you to it then," he said playfully. "Also, I meant to ask, have we met before?"
"No."
"Really? I feel as if I've seen you in my dreams before," he said nonchalantly.
Emiko's eyes grew wider. 'Does he have those dreams too?' she thought. She quickly turned her head back towards him, only to be met with a pair of hazel eyes. She felt her cheeks warm up when she realized how close their faces were. "I'm flattered to know you dream about me," she said after regaining her composure.
"You don't do the same?"
"...No, I've never seen you before. Not even in my wildest dreams," she lied.
"Alright if you say so," he said as he faced the back of Ryu's seat.
Emiko turned her gaze back to the night sky. The more she stared out the window, the more tired she became. "Aren't you going to sleep? We still have 10 hours before arriving in America," he said slyly.
